I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.
Is half a guy fused with a tree not good enough for you “more non-human walkers” people?
(joking btw.)
I forget Wrenn thank you! Btw she is a female dryad.

Na, Baneslayer Angel takes that spot for Unique Protection and is also the French Vanilla Mythic.
But a +1/+1 cleric lords would sound interesting. I wonder if the lord would be a cleric or rather an Angel... Perhaps the Black/White of the Innistrad Angels?

Honestly Core Sets are ideal to showcase a bunch of planes, some where we might never return to but are still loved.
Yes, you're right, I absolutely loved Core 2019 and Core 2020, and from what I'm seing I will love Core 2021, they should keep doing what they are doing with Core 2021, give us new characters from planes we visited and some old lore characters

Maro said that each hint was a single card.
or maybe Baneslayer is the "unique protection" reprint and the "french vanilla mythic" reprint is Akroma, Angel of Wrath (which would be lame since she was just reprinted in commander 2020 and masters 25) or Carnage Tyrant (uncounterable is a stretch for french vanilla) or sphinx of the steel wind.
If we are really getting the cleric with protection from clerics reprinted, that means morph is coming back. Which probably makes for a cool limited environment, but feels iffy for a non-expert level set.
Fair point. I just feel like they're really pushing it lately tbh.
You aren't wrong, but perhaps examine the implications behind this statement.
I think Maro's 2019 article on diversity last summer was made to reflect an attempted shift within the company, whose impact will be felt more as time goes on. I believe though that the change is for the best, both for the game and the playerbase. Edit: if done right.
Earlier decisions by the company's marketing and creative made the Lorwyn5 + Edit:Gideon as the game's focal point. They and many of the players had invested a lot into these characters, so that by the time of Magic: Origins, it was easier to update, retcon and reimagine the identity of these characters without the process becoming to jarring for their audiences.
I do not believe that Chandra was originally conceived as multi-ethnic when created during the planning of Time Spiral and Lorwyn.
I also don't believe Gideon was ever planned to be from Theros until the very early stages the Gatewatch's design which occurred late in Born of the Gods' development.
Contrarily, had the company decided that inclusivity was of utmost priority, WotC could have just made the original Gatewatch be comprised of new and old characters. I mean, much of Nissa's character and origin didn't even survive the transition, so the above statement certainly wouldn't have been an impossible endeavor. The Gatewatch team we got however was a premise that the company had greater financial confidence in. Edit: This is not meant to be a normative statement. I am not arguing "should"s here.
What later occurred after the Eldrazi-related sets was an expansion of the planeswalker-character roster, and whether the phenomena is best argued as an expression of tokenism or an increased commitment to inclusivity is debatable. A re-occurring theme during the Bolas arc was to visit a new plane, introduce a new human female planeswalker that often represented a marginalized ethnicity, and move on. Eventually fans began to express annoyance that most of these characters didn't do anything, or that their importance to the plot was more ancillary than primary. I could be wrong in this but I believe this was a common critique at the time. Yes Teferi joined the Gatewatch, followed by Kaya, but whether these are signposts to something else or exceptions to the rule remain to be seen.
So to answer your question: Yes, "they're really pushing it lately", but what that 'it' is remains nebulous.
Looks like a mono-colour legend for each of the five colours, and I'm thinking they'll do multicolour but with shards rather than wedges that M20 had.
I just hope that they bring flanking in to honour Teferi's Mirage story origins. That would be such a huge (yuuuggeee?) throwback for those who remember Teferi from those days.

Nice that after 56 walkers we finally see someone Arabic and not another minotaur or something
Finally some Middle Eastern representation. The Lebanese part of my heritage approves

Hello there fellow Lebanese
I always found Theros closest to Lebanon visually and even ethnically, more so than even Egypt/Amonkhet but it is nice to see Basri regardless, and I hope we get a HQ scan of him soon. Can't wait to add him to my deck. Which of course plays Calix, and every Jace ever.

This is exactly what would make core sets interesting. Can you imagine a Kamigawa and Lorwyn sub-theme in one? Come on already. I loved Core 2020 for having Starfield Mystic as a Theros glimpse for example.
I don't think it's Teferi's Protection because Maro's spoiler implied there'd only be one card with phasing, assuming he's referring to the Teferi leaked, otherwise it would be an obvious and awesome choice.
And I’m noticed something
Mangara and Vito share a type
No +1/+1 lord
There’s 404
Mark teaser
Is this your moment!?

See, you are just wrong about that. Of course Tezz is black. Also blue.
(In all seriousness, I think it was once stated that he has a black parent and a white parent.)

The Vorthos community will await the consequences of the Eldrazi Titans' deaths/sealing. We will keep the watch.

If only.
I do half expect that to be in Double Masters or Commander Masters (whatever it’s called),
but I would be incredibly shocked to see it here.
