Legendary Enchantment- Shrine
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may search your library and/or graveyard for a Shrine card and put it onto the battlefield. If you search your library this way, shuffle it.
If an ability of another Shrine you control triggers while you control six or more Shrines, that ability triggers an additional time.
I always thought the curses were the Slivers of enchantments; but shrines definitely make more sense. I just assumed they were only going to come from Kamigawa. Seeing these, gives me more hope.
I feel like they finally caved to potential return to kamigawa now
But as for these I need these for the spirit tribal deck I built the hodens are involved
I hope so, I'd love to return to a well-done Kamigawa, I feel these cards were designed with an eye towards MTGArena however, the original Hondens aren't Pioneer-legal but can be played in Historic, looking at the effects and mana costs I would toy around with a Grixis shell to start brewing s Historic Hondens deck.
The black one is VERY good, i'm honestly surprised. We used to pay 4 for that effect in Ill-gotten Inheritance and it was totally worth it. I think that will be the core of any shrine build that comes about for sure.
Definitely liking the black shrine, the red one can be better than the previous red shrine if you are drawing enough cards, blue is similar to the last one, white can get real annoying if you have enough shrines, and green is of course even more mana ramp in a Standard environment with tons of it. 5C shrine is very interesting.
I’m sure plenty of people are excited by this. I for one am just bothered that the legendary one doesn’t work with all of them now because two of them have activated abilities.
Kind of amazing how they gave us new shrines, created a new "shrine lord" and yet somehow found a way to make the white shrine not fit with the others and not work with the shrine lord ability. I tend to think people bend themselves into contortions to prove that "wotc hates white" or whatever, but this just seems like a slap in the face.

This.
I don't know why the white and red one need to have a totally different pattern. I don't think they could end up being stronger as raw draw power or ramping. The white one doesn't even scales well.

Notice that the other card in the cycle that got this treatment is the red one.
Maybe it's time to start asking for more fresh blood on design?
at the very least, the Red, Black and Green ones are pretty fine cards on limited, even if you play just a single copy.
The red one seems trash even in limited. You pay 3 mana to do nothing then 1 mana and discard a land or a shrine to deal 1 damage to a creature or planeswalker unless you have a bunch of other shrines, that is an absolute terrible rate, you'd need to have a boatload of shrines to make the red one playable which is highly unlikely to happen given they are uncommons and you probably can only fit 3 different ones in your deck anyway because of colour restrictions.
Shrines are the Allies of MTG with Curses as the Slivers.
Shrine aren’t exactly like any of the three. Only two Curses care about other Curses, none ever share abilities. Allies care about other Allies but don’t share abilities and don’t scale based on each other. Slivers share abilities but don’t scale based on how many. Shrines don’t share abilities but scale with each other.

The new red one doesn’t have a triggered ability either.

How does the Shrine deck work? The White one is the only 1-drop, and it essentially does nothing until there are a few more shrines in play. Seems like terrible design. Turn 1: White Shrine, Turn 2 Black shrine (Drain trigger), Turn 3 Drain trigger, you can't do anything else if you want to activate the white shrine... Seems bad.
Funny, I was literally designing a batch of new shrines yesterday and wondered if we'd ever see them again.
Guess thats a pretty damn good answer.
Also worth pointing out that these are japanese-themed as well, as the artwork incorporates the torii gates in the shrines. Doesn't look like Kamigawa though, but then again thousands of years could have changed things.

Given you can only have one of each of them out, odds are a shrine deck would not run only shrines (even if you wanted to, there's only 6 in standard, so that's 24 of your 36 non-land cards). The white one being a 1 drop helps power up the other shrines, while having a strong late game control element. So you probably play some constellation cards to fill in the gaps in your curve, such as the enchantress running around.
The 5-color one seems to be as parasitic as it gets.
It does basically nothing if you dont go all in on shrines.
The green/blue/black ones might be worth playing, even for a deck that isnt all about shrines, as they curve quite nicely into each other and provide a substantial advantage that will win the game and allows you to do your regular stuff.
The white and red one look tremendously "limited" as they deal with creatures and do so in a way that is only really appealing in draft/sealed.
