This is horrific as a topper. Wizards is drunk. For those of you that say preorders are not bring cancelled, every store I follow are having fire sales and tge box I preordered on Amazon to monitor has dropped by 30 dollars in a week.
when u pay a high price for a "premium" product and get a uncommon... but at least maro & friends can drink champagne
wonder what longterm effect this will have on customers, destroying so much trust with such a product. when u pay that much money, u shouldnt feel scammed.
The set has JTSM, Bob, Karn, STFM, VoR, Mox Opal, Chrome Mox, Bridge, Ballista, Mana Crypt, Noble, and a dozen other staples across all formats at rare or higher. Multiple staple $5 bills at uncommon. And the starting base for entire archetypes at common. Even without two rares per pack and free alt full art box toppers it’s a great set. I think if Wizards stuffed $50 bills in every pack some people would be upset with the way they folded them. If you’re priced out of these packs or boxes buy singles. Name a booster box ever released by Wizards that wasn’t a lottery...

The point is this takes the lotto aspect to the extreme. It runs with it. Its blatant exploitation.
Those 5 dollar staples wont stay that way. The value is very clearly locked into mythics and diluted with junk to make up for the fact that its doubles pet pack all while charging a premium price. Not necessarily bad cards, just low value cards which will be made lower through market saturation as people chase those mythics.
Look, we're allowed to be critical of the things we enjoy, and the things we purchase. Its how we as consumers can get better quality products even when people continue to buy what many feel is an exploitative rip off.
A premium product at a premium price is going to garner premium scrutiny, and this one so far is failing to meet the standards that many want at that premium price.
All of this can be discussed, and the product viewed that way, regardless of affordability. After all, nothing says that we want to actually spend that 300+ dollars even when we have it if we cant justify it.
Being critical is fine, we should be critical.
A few people I know are being petty, complaining about good rares being re-printed. This set is chock full of value at all rarities. Just good staple cards and some good chase rares and EDH cards too. Sure, there is a little bulk, but that's fine.
I'd love to get a playset of these alt art Fatal Push, they are just gorgeous!

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
So, what, exactly, is wrong with Fatal Push? Is it no longer a staple or something? It still seems to be rather pricy for an uncommon, so I'd assume it is.

Dude, do you know what would happen if Wizards guaranteed a minimum of $16 of value in every pack, with the potential of several hundred? You wouldn't be able to find packs for $16 anywhere. Remember how hard it was to find $7 Modern Masters 2013 packs? If it weren't for the bulk rares, Double Masters packs could be $20, $25, $30.
You don't get to gamble and then complain that you lost. If you don't want to lose, just buy singles. I know I will. But you've got to pay the $80 if you want (for example) a Force of Will, you can't expect it in a $16 pack and then whine when it's a Boon Reflection and a Tuktuk, the Explorer.
Please, mill me. Mill my important cards. Mill my lands. Mill it all. Because I will still deal 20 damage before you can mill 45 cards most every time.

The actual solution is to sell this product for regular booster prices.
Instead, people pay premium and they deserve to get shaved for that.

You missed the point. If MSRP couldn't stop Modern Masters 1 from hitting $10-$20, then nothing will stop this from being more than $10. Being print to demand didn't stop Battlebond prices from being way more than $4 either. Even Iconic Masters at its lowest didn't touch $5.
