Skyclave Shade can't block
If Skyclave Shade was kicked, it enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it. Landfall — Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, if Skyclave Shade is in your graveyard and it's your turn, you may cast it from your graveyard this turn.

Wow, that showcase art is fantastic!! (Hard to tell what's going on in the regular art though.)
Definite bloodghast vibes, obligatory self-reanimating black creature that appears every couple of sets. The fact that you have to actually cast it is a bummer, but being able to play a much more substantial 5/3 in the late game is a big bonus. Not as many sac synergies, but reminds me a bit of Woe Strider since they are both recurring 5-power creatures for 5 mana in black.

Yeah, the regular art makes it look like its a remnant of the Eldrazi. It's very angular and bismuth-like. Bloodghast is one of my all-time favorite creatures. This costing mana is a real bummer, for sure, but the lack of haste in any sense is more of a bummer to me. I'll still play. I still like it. It's just not quite Bloodghast.
Bloodghast this is not. For that matter Prized amalgam, Sliversmote ghoul, Ichord this is not either. I guess it will see play somewhere but it feels very grindy and not that great for a grindy card.
man, at least they should drop the whole "can't block" line if it was kicked... add a "can't block while it has no +1/+1 counters on it"
because, hell, 3/1 can't block for 2 is terrible, 5/3 can't block for 5 is even more terrible.

at the end of the day, it seems just as good as the last self reanimating black rares like Gutterbones or Bloodsoaked Champion

Idk... it does have more meat to swing in with. Gutterbones couldn't close a game as fast

a 3/1 for 2 without any evasion or even haste isn't closing any games either.
the same is true for a 5/3 for 5....
if the vanilla 3/1 is getting in for damage then it's very likely anything you'd be doing would be working anyway.
this card is not a win condition by any means...
that said,it should be a little harder to stop this dude without losing a creature and this might come in handy sometimes.
the main use is the same anyway.... to have a persistent dude that you can keep attacking with to squeeze some damage or sacrifice to other effects.
it's not bad, sure, but the whole selling point of Bloodghast is that it keeps coming back for no mana investment at all, and that's broken.
I think I like Reassembling Skeleton better, let alone Bloodghast who is probably the "best ever" for this kind of creature. Also Scrapheap Scrounger has the edge of instant speed and 2 toughness. Still it's a 3/1 so black aggro decks might like it in standard.
Am I missing something or is the "and it's your turn" redundant? Since it has no flash and you have to cast it, you couldn't return it on oponents turns anyway. Did they just add it to prevent confusion?

Quite possibly. I think it also stops you from casting it though it had flash with another card, but that doesn't seem like that big a deal to stop.

but it seems probably worse than Phytotitan, which wasn’t good enough.
