Am I only one completely bored with +1/+1 counter themes in every set? Cant we do some other means of creature enhancement for a change? For instance, threshold was super fun and unique.
Threshold seems like it would be really easy to turn on in certain color pairings (UB or BG, definitely), and less easy in others, who would have to put cards there after they died in combat.

That would be a nice change of pace. Also, makes me wonder why they believe Threshold to be too much to keep up with and yet the new mill threshold "eight cards or more" is everywhere.

There was ‚Level up’ in Rise of the Eldrazi. But that mechanic was not so popular.

I absolutely loved level up. I still use it in EDH all the time.
The argument that threshold is too complicated to keep track of is complete nonsense.
Also, for colours like red and white that have a hard time filling the yard, just print more cards like thrill of possibility
or more simple white cantrips
We already kinda do have level up in Standard though - it's not called that any more, now it's just an overcosted activated ability on a cheap creature that gives it a moderate stat boost or powerful effect later in the game.
Hahaha let's check back in with eachother here in another 10-20 yrs, okay? (I've been saying this for several years now..)

I prefer the aesthetic of Level Up, though.
