Yeah uro had his day in the sun so it's about time to bite it, all the answers they printed for it are not enough obviously. Also we'll have this 5 set standard until January, that's a long time.

maybe something could be unbanned now that we had the rotation?
Uro is pretty overwhelming and I wouldn't be surprised to see him out.
would like to see Muxus (or that little goblin that sacs goblins to genearate mana) banned on historic.
the hilarious thing is its the new zendikar rising cards that actually need to be banned (but wont be)
uro is good, but new omnath/lotus cobra/scute mob are absolutely wrecking arena since release.
it should be incredibly apparent now that there is no oversight on their designs whatsoever. since ravnica allegience they have been boosting up the power level so they can sell packs to modern and legacy players, and have completely ruined the game in the process. they just print whatever and hope for the best.
i have loved this game since 1996 but i really see it all falling apart in the coming years

yeah.....
Magic desperately needs better answers if the threats are going to be that crazy on standard.
speaking about the scute swarm, cobra, omnath nonsense....
they might ban the ultimatum as well.
oh yeah, i agree uro is the card that will get the ban next, and possibly gen ultimatem too, but my point is they're not actually the problem cards. WOTC simply cant ban the problem cards because they literally just released them hahaha
but yeah they are an absolutely disgraceful company. its no surpise arena has lost 50% of its player base in the last format. if you were new to this game i just really dont know why you would keep playing, especially arena.
I too have been playing for a while and I remember darker times my guy.
Urza's Saga and it's block wrecked power levels. Memory Jar was banned from almost the moment it was printed.
Mirrodin was also wild times with a whole bunch of cards being banned.
The Stoneblade days of standard were miserable.
This past year or two have been almost as bad, but at least there's some competitors out there. I'm not gonna say it's not bad, but we've seen Wizard's bring the game back from the brink before (in both directions- remember Fallen Empires and Homelands?) and I have faith they'll do it again.
Cobra itself has always been strong in standard. Now in a format with 8 fetches and a downshift in rarety, I'm wondering if it wasn't a horrible mistake.
Its the most powerful thing you can do at two mana and if it's not answered immediately then the tempo advantage can be insurmountable. It's the real engine imho.
i'm betting uro is finally gone and scute swarm gets banned on arena
uro was released long enough ago, and people got to use it enough, where backlash won't be an issue. the card was too good from the get go but not warping enough like oko to get the axe right away
scute swarm has basically corrupted arena and turned your wincon into make your opponent's client crash and its extremely easy to do with no effort. i'm not sure why they saw field of the dead and said let's inject this full of steroids and jam it in the lands matter set, in an environment that also has uro, azusa, cultivate, dryad of the ilysian grove, ancient greenwarden, lotus cobra, fabled passage and solemn simulacrum. but hey growth spiral rotated! there's clearly no one behind the wheel any more when it comes to balancing design and that's a major problem when your model is churn out product.
omnath... i wouldn't shed any tears if that saw a ban, especially in brawl where almost every game that isn't kinnan is omnath
its not the worst period, but its really really really far from the best and the need for bans after every single set release is getting really tiresome.
That's why standard is arena only for me, I'm not buying cards to make standard decks anymore, will just stick to making pioneer decks and playing my modern deck.
Standard costs too much money and the format is wild as hell.

i honestly dont think uro should be banned. it is a strong card, ofc, but it is not hostage taking as oko was for example. and there are answers, people just seem to lost the ability to play them in sideboards and just complain.
i dont play arena, but maybe its the best of one modus thats causing all this ? that should not be the benchmark for standard

Honestly, Uro is worse than Oko in the threat department (Oko is the better answer though). Like, if you have one of the best answers to it (Spikefield Hazard), you are down 1 card and a mana (that must be kept open!) to turn Uro into a sorcery version of Growth Spiral (which got banned) for 1 more than spiral, but that also give 3 life. I mean, sure sorcery and 1 mana is quite a bit to pay (I feel the 1 mana from the oppeont is more though), but getting +1 ca (and 3 life, which is worth something against many red decks) is typically more expensive to tag on AND that is against one of the best answers in the new standard!
Compare to Oko, at least if you countered it or killed it with creatures or whatever, it had the decency to stay dead.

tbh i never had a problem with oko, and less do i have a problem with uro.
same is true for jund sacrifice.
i dont know if the reason is, that i am a midrange player, but usually i do not have any problem with the standard format. i dont think there is anything that needs to be banned atm. and if they will argue with diversity i will say, that if they ban on release standard never had a chance to develop any diversity.
maybe i am alone with the oppinion, but i think people complain to easy instead of thinking about solutions how to play vs hard decks. to me this is kind of the thrill that comes with magic... "how do i beat this deck"

no you are not alone, I completely agree with you. And I think the ban mania is a toxic mob behaviour. The worse part is it is a self fulfilling prophesy. Once you start banning, all bets are off on future meta, since literally it BECOMES untested territory. Thats the funny part about everyone blaming wotc for not playtesting. It does not matter if they did, the environment changed.
This crowd that calls for banning, you see them spreading into other formats. Thats sad.
That said, I am now on the ban wagon for bannerism. Ban Uro I say, if only because so many cards have been banned already, why should Uro be spared. Ban Uro.
maybe i am alone with the oppinion, but i think people complain to easy instead of thinking about solutions how to play vs hard decks. to me this is kind of the thrill that comes with magic... "how do i beat this deck"
The problem is "how do I beat deck X" is not really why people enjoy the game. Adapting your list to how the meta is developing is one thing. Totally changing archetype just to counter something because majority of decks simply don't have the tools to fight is another.
The second is sign of unhealth meta for sure and the kind of thing that hurts the game, specially if you are starting.

Prettymuch!
They got a lot of feedback from bad players that they hated having their stuff interacted with, and now all of the threats are completely out of control. Answers have never, EVER ruined a format, and should be leaned upon heavily to regulate them. People like playing with powerful threats, so let them! Just make sure there are efficient answers to those threats at all times.
Honestly, something like '1W Sorcery Exile target creature.' should probably just be evergreen. Not so efficient or flexible that it invalidates archetypes, but strong enough that you can't just jam a threat and expect it to stick around for the rest of the game. No-frills 4-cmc wraths should also be a constant, since the aggro decks nowadays are inarguably fast enough to warrant it.

you know, actually yeah. but that gets back to the whole balance thing. way too many resources dedicated to churning out new crap rather than making that new crap balanced.
Good removal incentivizes ETB/Death effects and creates a situation where any creature that dies to removal without benefiting you has no place... which is already kind of true most of the time.
What I would love to see, though, if only for the relative novelty, is a standard format where the removal is good but EVERYTHING “dies to removal”. No usable indestructible or hexproof on a stick, no good ETB/Death triggers, no good self-reanimating, no resilient control finishers. Everyone is forced to win by playing more threats than the opponent plays answers.

basically they monitoring developments in standard and a update on the format next week logically it’s clearly a banned and restricted announcement
I think uro is finally gonna die
And in omnath’s defense he wouldn’t be broken in standard if it weren’t for the cobra and uro (and probably azusa)
