omnath decks still play crazy spells like ultimatum or ugin on turn 4.
i am really pissed off by this decision. they just banned what the majority screamed for instead of using their brains and solving the issue. and the issue is not uro, and if it were, they could just easyly replace him with Scale the Heights that just does the same without a body. so if there is an effect for the same mana that can replace him, is it really solving the problem of standard ?
They need to clean up that list because a lot of those cards are no longer standard legal so that will confuse people. Agent, Growth Spiral, Teferi from Spark, Reclamation, Veil, and Field of the Dead need to be removed.
Still, that's a hefty standard banning list if I ever did see one, at least in a long time. Will it do anything to the format? Ehh, people are crafty and creative. They'll find something else to bust open.

and lotus cobra that’s the most important part of the deck
Lotus cobra is perfectly fine elsewhere, though.
IMO, would be the wost card to ban from the 5.... because it´s a utility card, that just becomes completely bonkers because of the other cards around it.
Scute Swarm and Lotus Cobra are causing lots of issues with mutate combos as well.

I'm not sure what people wanted. They were never going to ban 4 cards from a deck so they picked the card with a lot of utility that has been causing problems. Let's give it a week to see how the metagame changes before we start screaming. At the very least this give counterspell decks a better way to combat the deck now that one of the biggest sources of inevitability is gone.
Little surprised they didn't ban Scute Swarm on Arena. Not surprised by what was banned normally, no way they'd ban something from a set that just came out days ago, they still have to sell it after all.
This won't change the Omnath Ultimatum Deck at all...
no need to play standard I see
Will be 75% of meta probably
yeah.... sure the deck will be a litte worse....
but I can already see people running Solemn Simulacrum on the slot previously used by Uro and calling it a day.

its not really broken there. no more so than any infinite combo. the real problem with scute swarm is with arena where you can't just write down the number of tokens and call it a day like you could with any edh pod at a physical table. theres no real reason to ban it in edh, but due to the limitations of arena there's a major case to ban it there.
while its blatantly clear that they weren't going to ban all the problematic cards given that they're new and they want to sell packs i think it should really be screaming at the playerbase that something is fundamentally broken. it should be incredibly obvious now that their system either doesn't work, or that they have no idea what the **** they're doing any more or worse... they just don't care because we'll buy it anyway.
balance has gone right out the window, and fun went right along with it.
They never ever ban cards for decks that are in print sets.
They want to sell the booster packs before the cards get banned.
Yup just like how Hearthstone designs its cards to be too powerful and then nerfs them later after people have already bought their packs; WOTC wants to emulate that mechanic but can't actually undo the damage the cards do to the game as a whole because once they are printed they can't be tuned, Companions notwithstanding.
Cobras are problem if You don't play removal. Uro was a problem even if You have removal. You don't even need to find another titan during game if You fail with the first one. That's not fun.

Uro is very, very strong.
I still rather play a ton of Uros than Ugin or Muxus, though.
what´s really not fun are the cards that say "lol, I win" like Ugin, Muxus or Genesis Ultimatum on that Omnath deck.
Banning Uro will not weaken the Omnath/Cobra/Ultimatum stuff by all that much, and at the same time will inviabilize some other competitive decks that used to run Uro.
at the end of the day, all this ban is going to create is increased domination for an already dominating deck.
IMO, they played if VERY wrong.
they tried to hit the Omnath/Cobra deck and ended up hitting Sultai Midrange even harder and there was really no need for that.
banning just Uro and nothing else reminds me strongly of when they banned Golos and let Oko run rampant....
at this day and age I'm not sure if WotC is even aware of what they are doing really.
are they making overpowered crap to ban on purpose?
man... are they even testing anything anymore?
I mean, look at it....
they build develop and test the set more than a year in advance...
so, more than a year ago they knew that the format that would exist right now would have Oko, Omnath, Uro, Cobra and Once Upon a Time...
how the hell did that slipped through?!

On one hand, good riddance Uro. I'm really happy to see that stupid design out, however, considering Omnath is still a thing I don't see the format getting substantially better but hey, gotta sell those packs. On the other hand, I can't see Lotus Cobra being ban-worthy, a 2/1 for 2 without any defensive ability can be kept in check by pretty much every single removal spell in the format.

Uro, Titan of Nature's WrathIs banned in standard
that is all...
but they failed again they didn’t see the lotus cobra and Genesis ultimatum as problems with that omnath deck
second failure historic nor modern/pioneer banned uro as well
Genesis Ultimatum / Escape to the wilds / Omnath, Locus of Creation are the real issues here.
the deck will still be running rampant.

and to make it worse watch people replace uro in the omnath decks with Azusa, Lost but Seeking
Brawl is also a total ***** show thanks to omnath and scute swarm, but was once again neglected
Gotta sell those packs!
