I like how they twisted Elvish Visionary into Elvish Doomsayer, giving it a death trigger instead of etb and everyone else losing a card instead of you getting one, while changing the flavor text by just three words.
Don't get me wrong, I love Seb's art ..... but it's starting to all look the same (sorry?
I’d like him to paint cards in other colors. They have him doing all these black cards all the time. Give him some more non-black lands and blue, white and green cards.
my favorite Seb piece is unknown shores from Theros for example

I would’ve loved to see him paint like Liesa or something non black focused. That art style can be used in so much more than the limited palette it’s given. Reminds me of mono white in EDH. Radiant or even the guy who gives an opponent Monarch could’ve been commissioned by him.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
1: Man, they are really going hard after the Elf Tribal decks in this set.
2: That Seb McKinnon art is AMAZING.
Elves, Pirates, Cascade. Wizards just beating the dead horse till it's turned to glue
This is like complaining about Landfall in Zendikar. They're major themes of the set.
Actually, it's quite different since Landfall is only slammed over your head like this in Zendikar. Meanwhile, this set was not bound by any sort of restriction and yet they chose themes that are already prevalent in many other places. Elves especially, and Pirates so recently. In addition, elves have needed no help so it feels like a very much wasted opportunity for something unique.
Saying they're major themes of the set is not some sort of winning argument to this kind of debate. Because the themes of this set could have been anything. And so, the core principal here is that the themes suck. But thanks anyway.

When was the last time we really got new interesting elf support? Not just speaking of power level but also flavorwise, when was the last time we really got new interesting elves? No elves in Ikoria, no elves in Theros, Ravnica has the most boring elves possible, and before that? No elves in Amonkhet, no elves in Ixalan, no elves in Innistrad. IIRC Eldraine didn't even have a legendary elf. Sure, we'll get a single reprint here and there in a core set or an uncommon elf in a standard set to keep the appearance that WOTC cares about elves, but this whole "Elves are everywhere" argument is bollocks. As someone whose favorite fantasy tribe is elves, I tell you, it's been years since we got something really cool both on the mechanical and flavor sides. Lorwyn was IMO the last time they came up with actually interesting elves, so it's not surprising the best ones lately have been Lorwyn themed in sets like Origins and Commander Legends.
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.

And just because you personal don't like a theme doesn't mean its sucks or having the average amount of cards that most sets have means its over done.

If elves are your favorite tribe then I am not shocked that you don't feel this to be a wasted space for them. WOTC could never, ever, print enough wolves or werewolves for me to feel tired of them.
Whether or not these elves or any of the more recent elves are/were interesting mechanically is entirely subjective. For instance, Cascade as a whole to me is not interesting. Nor are pirates or most elves. Subjectivity is fine and it's the foundation of my comments.
But, just because you don't remember that elves have been in standard sets doesn't mean they don't bombard us with printings of them every year. Moreover, elves have had their own dual deck, their own Commander precon, they were present in Battlebond, Jumpstart and basically every set. It's a creature type that exists on all planes. For standard, by the way, Magic Origins had an elf tribal theme, Throne of Eldraine brought a handful of unique ones, same with Aether Revolt and Kaladesh, and plenty more. I don't have anything against elves, they actually usually play well with wolves so I tend to like them. But they really didn't need to be a subtheme for a Commander focused set when they already get plenty of support on a consistent basis.
The point is, my argument isn't "bollocks" just because it's your favorite creature type. We both have biases here but don't be blind to your own.

oh look at the art of elvish doomsayer it’s a reverse role of elvish visionary
Commanders don't count towards partner requirements. They aren't in your starting deck
Edit :my apologies. Oracle says otherwise. damn partners are a rules mess.
Honestly even Eldraine cannot hold a single candle to Lorwyn. That plane was just better. Lorwyn's art was brilliant.
