I did mention that we'd see her played IF we could protect her... I think she's one of those cards that people will freak out on once they figure out where to put her. We just don't know what's in this set that could make her very very good.
Is it just me or is overbeing on the cusp of being green? I mean allright there's green card drawHarmonize, and theres an old green avatar for your hand Maro, but card draw is an obviously element of card draw the list litteraly goes on and on, and theres a recent blue hand avatar Aeon Chronicler. I think they could've done more to make this thing green, I mean like Demigod has extra abilities, that he could lose and still be amazing with, wouldn't the wow factor of this guy increase if he had trample?
All the demigods that are black are usually better since the cant be killed byrandomevents.
Funnily enough, despite the black ones being immune to all the targeted removal, the green ones are the only ones seeing any kind of regular play. By that precedent, I wouldn't write this one off just yet.

98% of the internet population has a Myspace. If you're part of the 2% that isn't an emo, copy and paste this into your sig.
Hey, you. Yes, you reading this sig. Get off your computer, go find a copy of Skies of Arcadia: Legends and play it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
With the extra cards provided by the overbeing, could her vulnerability be remedied via commandeer?
By the way, I personally think that all the demigods of shadowmoor were pretty good cards, though demigod and oversoul were both leagues beyond the others. I think the big problem was revealing demigod of revenge, the flashiest of the cycle by far, first. I would certainly use the ghastlord in casual, and maybe in standard with a good U/B nontribal deck to back it up.

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.
I know its not standard but seeing how in Rav they printed Shielding Plax" target="blank">Shielding Plax I can only assume that there will be something like this in Eve.
My theory is that the Aura of the Overbeing grants shroud as one of the abilities.
I really do believe this card has a lot of untapped power and will prove to be a good finisher in UG builds.
There was a time when Aeon Chronicler was great. Suspend him for lots of mana and draw your brains out until he comes out to whack the other guy. Or, pay 5 mana to suspend him for a turn, draw a card, and whack. Or pay 5 mana for a Maro.
The Overbeing is somewhat more efficient. Pay 5, draw cards, AND whack. The only difference is the Chronicler could not be conventionally destroyed until it actually came out, which prevents the Overbeing from being totally better, aside from the colored mana restrictions (although Wafo-Tapa recently showed us that this isn't exactly the time to worry about mana screw).
Funnily enough, despite the black ones being immune to all the targeted removal, the green ones are the only ones seeing any kind of regular play. By that precedent, I wouldn't write this one off just yet.
Yeah except the the big green one seeing play can't be spot- anything'd with the exception of the fewwhitecards that can handle it.
Well, i hear counterspells are pretty cool. and most spot removal can be countered, and this guy is part blue here. Thus you should have counters. Although, even in mono-G, you have tons of threats they will have to deal with. So their spot removal will wear thin pretty fast. Because, lets face it. most decks are running a set of Terror, and thats about it.
-Overbeing of Myth
-Garruk + Standard Mana Ramp mana accel
-Savor the Moment / Time Stop
-The commands (cryptic etc)
-Blue board control... ...if only GU had some form of board control ala hellkite/wrath/siege-gang
I think that the only way it could realistically see play is if wizards printed some new cool powerful counterspells in eventide. Then people would play it in a mono-blue or blue with a splash of green control decks.
he cant turn the game around if you're in the back foot. he is really awesome if u have a Teferi in play....but as i said, if u got Teferi in play, ur already winning....

I am NOT the girl in my avatar. Stop hitting on me. I'm a dude, just like you!
For me, she'd be something I'd consider in low quantities of in a Mannequin deck. In the late game, she costs as much as a Mulldrifter (apart from color) and can be Mannequined just as easy at EoT.
I think Reveillark (tempo), Mannequin and 5c control are what are going to be some of the better hookup points between Lor/Shm/Ala standard (just looking forward).
how can folks automatically discount this card because of terror?
deus of calamity IS seeing play. by far better deck designers and players then any single person in this thread. myself included.
now instead of meh landkill. you draw a card. i'm not saying it's an auto house. but dayam. that is good sauce. phyrexian arena on a stick without drawback can't be that bad.

dude, dues of calamity is a 6/6 trampler....thats why it sees play....the LD effect is a bonus...whereas overbeing gets token chumped all day...
phyrexian arena on a stick? ....last time i checked phyrexian arena cost 3 mana and cant be creature killed.
the only way that this card will be played is if there is a card in eventide that says "your creatures have shroud and are indestructible"

oh well... wishful thinking.
Green gets Firespout, and we all know how easy it is to produce a red mana now in Green mono green (Birds, Manamorphose, Reflecting Pool Suite)...
