So let's assume, hypothetically, that I think checklists are ass-ugly, and I don't want to constantly de-sleeve my cards. Could I have the DSCs in my deck with the day side shown by the sleeves, and then when it transforms, simply stick a (clearly fake) homemade "token" on top of the card, with the night side depicted, and play with it like that? Would that be acceptable at, say, an FNM?
That's what I plan on doing to an extent.
Sleeve the check list, then whip out a hard cased card when I play it. and put it on top.

I don't see why not. Though I really don't see what's such a big hassle about taking a card out of a sleeve while it's on the battlefield and putting it back in when it dies.

Why would you put it on top of the checklist? the checklist shouldn't ever be going onto the battlefield.

Many people WILL lose track and forget to shuffle it back in if they put it off to the side. 59 card deck, missing important card. Should only happen 1-2 times to anyone but it will happen guaranteed.

Sure, but you could say the same thing about Mind Control... Or any card that exiles anything.

Just to add: if you use a Fake card, it is cheating and you can have any number of negative outcomes from it (Game Loss, Match Loss, etc). But, in this case, it wouldn't necessarily be a Fake Card, more or less the equivalent of a Token to show the Status of the Creature. If it's just a copy of the back-side of the card (so that you don't have to flip it), then it could be seen as a Fake, but then again, you clearly have the card, and the copy isn't part of your deck.
In short, it is very confusing and entirely up to the Judge of any given event. They could view it as a Fake Card, and possibly DQ you from the event, or they could view it as the equivalent of a Token, which would have no consequences.

Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
except that its actually considered using outside notes/outside game information which is a DQ offense.
But surely there's no info on a back-side token that you couldn't get by physically picking up the card from your Transform pile and looking at it?
I wouldn't want to go desleeving a foil Garruk just to flip him, especially because food goes around at my LGS's events; **** would get ****ty.
What's the ruling on having two DFCs for one? I.e. a Garruk Relentless day face up in sleeve that goes in your deck, and a Garruk Relentless in-sleeve night-face-up in the Transform Pile (that you don't need because of sleeves, but the Night Garruk's still in it). Then when you play Day Garruk, and he gets transformed, replacing him with Night Garruk, to prevent card damage/oil.

No, it isn't. This is the official word from WotC that we got at PT—Philly. Printing out cards is not allowed and should be treated as counterfeiting, even if it's an obvious fake. A judge who allows it is flat-out wrong.

That's exactly what OP was suggesting I believe... Day side up in his sleeves, put something else on top. I don't see the difference between this and LSV using LSV tokens... Just because it probably has some text on it other than p/t? Seems silly. Obviously it's not a real proxy since he has the card right there. I'm sure it'd be allowed at our store, which is pretty lax (though some people may ask to see the other side anyway...maybe that's why it would be disallowed? i cant see someone making a 'fake' night side to cheat, but maybe they want to prevent it).

At a Pro Tour, the rules will be enforced much more strictly than at an FNM.
At an FNM, the TO and judge might decide to allow it. It might not be OK by WOTC, but the individual TO might allow it.
Well then I suppose I have a question. Is it illegal to have another copy of the card (in a clear not opaque sleeve of course) and when the creature with the day side from my deck enters the battlefield for me to reach into my box take out my extra copy and place it ontop of the day copy when it transforms? or use it as a replacement?
I'm asking because I think the Checklist cards are ugly and for the most part I don't see DFC's as being to important to many of my own decks but if I have multiple copies of a card that I'm not using I'm probably simply going to use this method if it's legal.

What if it has the word "FAKE" printed in huge bold red letters across the card? Or the art is replaced by an empty box?

Woap is right. Fake cards are not allowed regardless of the situation.
