Does Jace, Architect of Thought's +1 still work if he leaves the battlefield before any opponent attacks (for example, by a bounce spell like Echoing Truth)?
Of course. Just like all abilities in Magic, Jace's ability exists independent of the source. Just like the old Prodigal Sorcerer + Unsummon question. If your opponent taps the sorcerer to deal one damage to you and you, in response, unsummon it you're still taking one damage.
Even if Jace is no longer on the battlefield through bounce, destruction, or being at 0 loyalty, creatures attacking will, until your next turn, get -1/-0 for their given turn.
For Jace to work in that way he would need to be worded: "Until your next turn, if Jace, Thought Architect is on the battlefield, whenever a creature an opponent controls attacks, it gets -1/-0 until end of turn."

For Jace to work in that way he would need to be worded: "Until your next turn, if Jace, Thought Architect is on the battlefield, whenever a creature an opponent controls attacks, it gets -1/-0 until end of turn."
Or, "Until your next turn, Jace, Thought Architect gains 'Whenever a creature an opponent controls attacks, it gets -1/-0 until end of turn.'"
But, yes, as written, the ability still works without Jace on the battlefield.
Thanks! I suspected him still working was the case, but I needed confirmation, as he actually effectively hoses Modern Exarch Twin quite a bit of the time if that's the case.
What happens if the player who controls have dies before said next turn does the effect no longer happen cause the controller of effect has left the game
