I understand that an enchantment creature cast for its bestowed cost works as an aura spell. However, the card still says - enchantment creature. Does this mean it can be targeted by spells that target creatures, for example doom blade? What happens if an Anger of the Gods or Supreme Verdict is cast?
The manner in which the reminder text is written makes it abundantly clear that cards with Bestow cast for their bestow cost are, and not become, Aura spells and then Auras in play.
In the event of mass creature removal, Auras will persist, as they are not creatures. After all creatures die and the Bestow card (an Aura) becomes unattached, rather than being put into a graveyard, it becomes a non-Aura enchantment creature.

As Auras, creature-specific targeted removal cannot legally target (non-creature) Bestow Auras.
Mutavault can become a creature even if the printing on its type line only says land.
Licids can become Enchantment - Aura even if the printing on its type line only says Creature - Licid.
It's not the printings that matter, it's the effect in the game. If Bestow says the card stops being a creature, then it's no longer a creature.
