My opponent and I both control an archetype of courage. I played mine first. I presume that this would normally be a layering issue, as to who actually gets first strike, but the part that strips first strike seems that the result would be that no one has first strike?

Timestamps do matter for multiple effects trying to apply in the same layer, but a "can't" effect always wins. No creature will have the archetypal ability.
