I heard somewhere that some or all of the legendary creatures from Unstable were to be legal as commanders. Is this a rumor,we don't know yet, or casual only?
All silver boarded cards from Unstable (and all the other Un-Sets) are only legal in Un-Set formats.
If your Commander group wants to allow any of the legendary creatures from Unstable to be played, then that is down to your group setting it's own house rules. So don't expect to be allowed to play them in any official tournament anytime soon, or ever.
Based on your meta entirely. A couple of my friends want to make decks (and I don't want to object because I'm in the same boat) and really it would be in the spirit of EDH as long as it's not too broken.
only if they're foam dice I'd allow them to be thrown on my cards. Otherwise if one of my cards is damaged from your dice hitting my cards you will buy me a new card. Care to replace a light play beta underground sea or a foil cradle? or even a one of a kind altered creature because the die chipped the paint on the card? So unless you've got deep pockets I'd suggest leaving that card far away from the average EDH pods.
I'd allow it. Good thing I don't bother with "pimping" ECH decks and keep my decks actually cheap it. Also does no one else use the thick sealed plastic protectors for their decks?

I double sleeve my decks. But it is still irresponsible To throw dice on somebody else's cards. It's like somebody sitting on the hood of my car and putting a dent in it. All it takes is one good hit and my property is damaged by your irresponsibility. I nearly lost it one time when somebody bridged my cards when they decided they were going to shuffle my deck because I will never Bridge my own cards. You could do that with your cards but do not do that with mine ever. Unless you want to pay to replace all the cards that you damaged

I found double-sleeves to be at best a more temporary solution. Prone to corners bending and catching, backs getting scratched noticeably, peeling, etc. I seen the professor's videos, tried it, but it still leaves something to be desired.
I don't do any fancy shuffling aside from the initial shuffle of dealing them in five piles then combining that pile, offering the opponent to cut if they wish.
If I owned a very pricey card that foil cradle like you mentioned, I would avoid playing with it and keep it somewhere safe. Rather have a proxy of it in the deck. As when you are asking for the damage to be paid, your asking for 750-800$ for it.
"Officially", no, a silver bordered card is not "legally" allowed in Commander according to the official rules committee mtgcommander.net rules, which is what the rules come from. However Commander is not a sanctioned format by WotC, and never will be (by nature of design of the format, it is too unbalanced for it to be truly competitive), so the rules are more like guidelines to follow to keep the games streamlined for what you would expect walking into a random store or online. I would hope that if you played enough games with around the same 8-12 people, they wouldn't mind mixing it up and allow you to try one of the new legendary creatures from an Un-set for some laughs or new creative options. I know I wouldn't care, it's Commander, who gives a rat's ass - the format is designed for laughs and over the top plays you can't do in any other format.

Until January 15th the only legal in un-formats cards are now legal
So somewhat means yes
(This is a test run and might end up making it official in my opinion.)
