You've played Magic one-on-one. You've played it in a free-for-all. But have you ever wanted to just throw down the gauntlet against all your friends at once? Have you ever wanted to take on the whole world and show them who's boss?
Well, now you can! Archenemy is the first "One vs. Many" multiplayer product. With a deck of twenty oversized cards to beef up your favorite deck, you'll be ready to face off against as many of your friends as your kitchen table can hold. Two? Three? Twenty? Bring 'em on! Here you rule!
On June 18, become the Archenemy. There will be four different game packs, each one with a 60-card Magic deck featuring eight rares, and a 20-card oversized deck.

"Vanguard, Planechase, Archenemy, Duel Decks, Duels of the Planeswalkers, MTG Tactics, From The Vault, and Premium Deck Series did not meet our financial obligations."
"But those aren't Magic expansions."

It looks pretty cool. I always did love these multiplayer variants, although I do kind of wish they'd come up with more planechase planes before doing something completely different.
EDIT: Releasing them right before summer begins is a good move on their part. It's a lot better than releasing it at the end like they did with planechase.
AKA "Raid decks in WoW are popular, lets copy the concept".
Hopefully the idea works out, it does sound fun. Here's to hoping that Wizards has an interesting take on the concept. I'm really curious as to how they will do something like this, and what these oversized cards will do.
So, what, this is like a Mortal Kombat game? Kinda cool idea, but not enough info to go on. Hopefully not as expensive as Planechase. Let's see how this plays with EDH.
Recent discussions here and elsewhere have made it clear that there seems to be a group of players who consider blue and control synonymous, as if they somehow started playing a game with four identical and "bad" colors that do nothing interesting because they just "turn men sideways" and then true, glorious blue, the only thinking person's color.
EDH decks
Marath, Will of the Wild
Sygg, River Cutthroat
Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer
Marchesa, the Black Rose
So... so we're not gonna do more Planechase? You guys spent, what, three weeks designing that? Surely it deserves more support instead of abandoning it so soon.
Maybe you'll get Archenemy cards in your Duel Decks From The Vault: Deck Builder's Toolkit All-Foil Duels of the Planeswalkers Downloadable Content Expansion (Tactics Edition).
Are they even making Magic expansions anymore? Is Worldwake even coming out? Has it been cancelled and we just didn't notice? Is that why we only know six cards from a set that will be released in three weeks?

I don't know how the oversized cards would work, but I sure hope they help the "archenemy". Multiple people fighting one guy ends up being a slaughter in most multiplayer formats.
And once again, another announcement of something new instead of WWK info.

"I don't know why people say a double-edged sword is bad. It's a sword. With two edges." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter
Ill clean this one up when I can. But honestly, this thing fails for me for the reasons stated above. WoW has now capitalized on something that Magic doesnt need, but is apparently going to get. I've played that WoW raid thing and to be honest, it took freaking forever. I hated it.

I thought that Planechase was awesome, and Planechase EDH was even more awesome - I hope Archenemy EDH will be equally as good.
Ever had a person in your casual playgroup who brings an unfun, superpowerful deck to multiplayer and consistently beats everyone with it? Let them be archenemy and I'm sure some good times will ensue ^^

I'm not gonna believe I'm gonna see more Planechase until something verifiable or official comes out about there being more. It's a really fun format and I'd love to see more of it.
That said, this new product seems too vague so far for me to care one way or another. I'm gonna need more details before I crap.
Also, this still isn't an announcement for more Planechase, so I'm not as excited.

DITS!
Mr. Jiggles comin' to town and gonna take you on down to the hootenanny, so y'all best be lookin' out for a good, jiggly time.
I wish that this tied into planechase alot more. Planechase was the sweetest thing since... Magic: the Gathering. I wonder if you can do this and planechase at the same time? I hope they pump out a bunch of new planechase this year too but am looking forward to trying this out. I wish there was more to it in this announcement. Kinda leaves everything up in the air. I guess that's how wizards wants it though...
While the comparisons to WoW Raid decks will probably be apt, and those no doubt had some influence on WotC's decision to move forward with this product, this actually sounds very similar to an MtG product first proposed way back in 1998 or so nicknamed "Power Lunch." (I believe it was first mentioned in an issue of the Duelist around the time Stronghold came out.)
Although I long thought "Power Lunch" had been cancelled, there was an article a year and a half ago - (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/14b) - that implied in passing that it would one day be published. It certainly sounds like "Archenemy" is the finished version of that product.

This is likely a ripoff of WoWTCG's Raid Decks.

Of course they could do a lot more to support the format.
On to the actual topic. Archenemy looks fun and I'll probably pickup all four decks if I can afford them.
