If these theories are true, I would love to see decks with both Jace Beleren and this 3rd Jace just to combat JTMS during that one month when all 3 are legal.
I'm still upset about Gideon and Sorin getting reprinted, but new cards for the other three will at least mean the new "cycle" has the potential to line up a bit better with one another.
Im on the camp that says the top card is Gideon but the rest are not planeswalkers.
Take a closer look at the area around the name box for the Japanese walkers.
Now take a close look at any non-planeswalker card, let's say Jace's Archivist:
Other cards have a clear space between the name box and the black border. For planeswalker cards, however, the name box touches the black border at the top. There's no way the cards behind Gideon aren't planeswalkers.
It doesn't matter because the Core Set doesn't take storyline into consideration, as it's cards have nothing to do with existing storylines. In all likeliness, new versions of Jace/Chandra/Garruk would be stand-alone and detached from a story they've been involved in the last few blocks/web comics/novels, and their cards serving as new snap-shots of them as just being who they are (for example that japanese Vedalken card linked to Jace portrays the acknowledgment that Jace lives on Ravnica, which has become an established part of Jace's character but not having to do with his most recent involvement in events on Zendikar, the Infinite Consortium, etc.)
What do you mean? Core sets have no storyline. And a new card for a planeswallker doesn't necessarily mean that character has changed in some way, it's just a different "snapshot" of that 'walker's capabilities. A new version of Chandra would be the same person as Chandra Nalaar but with different spells from her arsenal brought with her.
Garruk and Chandra both totally start with the same kanji as the existing versions. Which only opens the question of why a Jace card would not start with the kanji for "Jace", though we're pretty sure it will be an incarnation of him.
Seems like pretty weak evidence for new versions before we actually get spoilers.
The most obvious clue (imo) is the furigana (additional characters above the main character). M12 Chandra appears to have two furigana for the first character, as compared with none for Chandra Nalaar and one for Chandra Ablaze. Same thing for Garruk, M12 Garruk has two furigana while Garruk Wildspeaker has only one.
Of course, at this resolution its impossible to say anything with 100% certainty, but I think the evidence looks pretty compelling.
At the risk of sounding dumb, are we sure that screenshot is of the Japanese versions? Does Gideon match? The resolution is so bad that I can't really tell anything... even language.
It would be nice to see a new Garruk but, I believe there will be new arts for Garruk, Ablaze and Beleren reprints.
If there would be new Planeswalkers, there would be on a block edition and not on a core set, like they have done always...
<Arnold> Wrong. </Arnold>
The evidence is compelling. We have text mismatches (albeit in another language) and new art. Why commission new art for old walkers? It doesn't make sense. There is no reason Wizard can't decide not to stick to the script at any point in time (triple negative destruction!!!).
I bet that new Jace is a balanced Mind Sculptor. That means, it's exactly the same, but no "0: Brainstorm", just the other 3 abilities.
That's still not fair, or balanced.
+2: Oops, You can't have that Or Oh, you could have that (but you are screwed).
-1: I'll set you back soo many turns and answer so many unanswerable threats.
-12: I win the game .
The sparkmage shrieked, calling on the rage of the storms of his youth.
To his surprise, the sky responded with a fierce energy he'd never thought to see again.
If you look closely, the backgrounds also seem different. Notice the lack of that brown thing at the upper left corner on Garruk's card; Jace has a lighter blue background than his older versions and Chandra's has a glow much closer than her older versions.

Assuming you're right, NICE CATCH!
Gideon seems to match very well to his current Japanese characters. Except at the very last character, but I think that's a blur issue.
I want jtms to come back. It will cost even less and that's great for me. I don't play standard so it's all good for me. Keep in mind though that casuals also don't care that much. Atleast that's my experience.

They've only made two of the new core sets. This is the first one that has had diffrent walkers (gideon and sorin) so I don't see any reason why they can't just make all new ones.
That being said, Garruks name in japanese changed in m12 (he has two furigama instead of one over the first kanji as was already mentioned). I'm not familiar with japanese, but how do we know that this isn't a change like that one.

It we are getting a new Jace and Chandra then I'm even more disappointed in art then I was before. :(. At least if they were reprints we could have used the Lor/M10/M11 versions.
And if they were creating new walkers anyway why wouldn't they create a new Sorin and Gideon? Sorin, to the best of my knowledge, never saw any play and the current Gideon doesn't exactly seem Core Set appropriate. (Provoking, Assassinating, and -0 ability.)

Look at the red circled spot, at the letter on Jace that is peeking out from underneath Sorin. That is clearly not a B (from Jace Beleren). If it were a B, then we would see a straight line running parallel to the card frame above, or we would see a straight line that disappears behind the card above. Instead, we see a small protruding character, probably a lowercase letter.
I would be willing to be that the red-circled letter is a lower-case o. Not only does the first name "Jace of" make perfect sense, but it also would work perfectly with the image evidence that I have found here.

Some of you guys have incredible eyes. I can't make anything out from that picture.
Here is more evidence about Jace being different. I looked through the English version of the video to see if I could find any more evidence that was maybe not in the Japanese version.

These images 100% confirm that Jace, the Mind Sculptor is NOT being reprinted. Look at the frames, the new Jace's art box is the same size as the other planeswalkers! Mind Sculptor has a shorter art box to allow all 4 abilities to fit on the card, if he was being reprinted then we would notice it based on the card's frame.
It would be cool if the names of the new versions were "Jace of [insert his origin plane]" and such...then it'd be like Gideon was gathering allies from around the multiverse, although I know it's not suppose to have a story.

What do you mean? Garruk's japanese name has never changed since his first printing in Lorwyn: 野生語りのガラク. WotC has never changed a card's name in any language except in the case of obvious translation mistakes.
I don't know if this has been mentioned or if this is important, but to me, the fist character on Jace's card appears to be 台. What the implications of this are, I have no idea...

Also, there is no comma after "Jace" in the english version. It's IMPOSSIBLE for it to be Jace, the Mind Sculptor without that comma and the next letter being a lowercase "o" or something else similar.
EDIT: And in a clearer picture, they purposely didn't show it.
