That seems like a ripoff. Why would anyone play that when the next spell you cast will make your opponents draw a bunch of cards? It does not even look good for mill decks.
I read these and can't help but laugh. A million people go "OMG, a 3rd Jace? Wha!? NO! I'm so sick of them printing Jaces" and not a soul says a word along the lines of "OMG, a 3rd Chandraa? Wha? How could they. Booorrriiinnggggg...."
I can't remember the last time I played with or against a Chandra. She doesn't feel as boring.
I, for one, am disappointed. The Lorwyn Garruk was one of the best planeswalkers ever printed. He was well balanced, but helped you a ton in the game. He was extremely versatile, and could find a home in almost any deck that ran green. He was exactly what a Planeswalker should be. I'll miss him.
While I agree with this statement completely, I like to think Wizards is looking to him when they mentioned taking a second look at planeswalkers to rebalance them. Currently they're not too happy with their cost or power levels apparently.
I love me some Chandra and hopefully the new one maintains Chandra Ablazes fun/ interesting factor, but is more aggressively costed. I would be more than fine if they mixed Chandra 1 and 2 together a little. Same with Jace.

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"
2/2
A third Jace and Chandra would really feel like too much, especially if he comes from a Core Set. There was nothing wrong with Beleren. He was very well done, the only 3CC walker and becoming less and less pricey with the multiple reprints. I wouldn't spit on a new Garruk or Chandra, but again, why do we need this? The Lorwyn walkers were perfect for introducing new players to the concept of planeswalkers. Cool and versatile, nothing close to broken, kitchen-table-staples.
And by the way, whatever happened to Ajani?

Some kind of witty comment should be here.
I'm sure you can think of something by yourself.

Im tired of people saying the phoenix works well with nalaar, when the phoenix works even better with ablaze. discard any red card get your phoenix back. Discard phoenix get your phoenix back, never run out of cards to discard to her
It says a lot about how bad Ablaze is that she can have this Phoenix made for her and still suck. You're paying 6 mana and needing another card for the end result of 4 damage to your opponent each turn. That's just not that impressive at all. If you had the choice of targeting a creature and still getting the Phoenix back, then that would be something, but as it is? Come on.

What I find offensive is not that Wizards is endeavoring to make the game more accessible, but the attitudes of elitists who act as though no one of any age should show their face in the Magic public without first having mastery over the complexities of the game.

I now have to find a post somewhere in these sections of some-one who "predicted" that Garruk would have a reprint.
He claimed he had been right often in previous spoilers and got some kind of inside information.
He said that the new garruk would be 5 cmc, and his +1 ability would create green beasts.

Give credit, where credit is due. Give irony and sarcasm, when ignorance and stupidity is found. The whip is kept for special occasions
The Internet was a revelation to me, I never imagined there are so many idiots on this planet.
Everyone talks about new Chandra and Garruk art, but everyone seems to have forgotten that there was the possibility for new Jace art too, which only pushes the idea further than those three will be new PWs.
Was actually pretty obvious considering Jace's Archivist and Garruk's Horde have almost no synergy at all with their Lorwyn equivalents, compared to Chandra's Phoenix and especially Gideon's Avenger whose synergies are exquisite.
Chandra will most likely be in Ablaze form because of her synergy with phoenix, while Garruk and Jace will be in new forms which synergize with their rare creatures.
Looking at Phoenix and Avenger, they all seem to go with their respective planeswalker's + ability, suggesting this will be the same for Garruk and Jace.
Jace's ability is hard to guess, but Garruk will most likely either tutor up creatures and put them on top of your library, or benefit somehow from casted creature spells (Until end of turn, whenever you cast a creature draw a card or something like that).
They could have at least made a new, actually playable Sorin.
Wouldn't be much point in going to the trouble of updating a relatively new Planeswalker if there's a chance a new version of Lilliana is coming up in Innistrad and would just trump it anyway.
I suppose this means we won't be seeing Garruk in Innistrad this year.
We could, but it might not be mono-green. If I recall, Lilliana has tainted Garruk so there's a possibility we could see a :symb::symg: version of him in the block, if Wizards continues with his pursuit of her and depending on how their story plays out (if at all). Granted this is speculation, and then who knows what Creative will retcon next.

That, and Sorin has actually already been confirmed as his Zendikar version.
Out of curiosity, do we know the Kanji characters on the card names? And more importantly, do these characters match the Japanese names for Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Chandra Ablaze?
I can see WoTC printing a replacement version for Chandra Nalaar. Its abilities are way too similar between themselves, are too weak in comparison to nearly every other 'walker printed to date and just aren't exciting enough.
The reasoning behind a third Jace variant is a bit more unclear. Jace Beleren is reasonably well balanced for what it does. Its +2 and -1 may not be particularly exciting, but at least fall within the correct design philosophy for planeswalker design: 1. Its plus ability is balanced by a reasonable tradeoff that becomes more significant in the long term, and 2. Its minus ability is powerful, but cost so that it prevents perpetual abuse. The only caveat to Beleren's design is its subpar ultimate, but I don't really think it's reason enough to warrant a new version.

-6 Put a 2/2 Wolf onto the battlefield for each creature and land you control.

Based on the screenshot, all of the three walkers will be completely new. None of their names match any existing versions.
Why on earth do people think Chandra Ablaze will be reprinted after Aaron Forsythe called it a failure?
My guess would be that they are looking to take the abilities of C. Ablaze and make her easier to cast. The synergy with the Phoenix is too strong to ignore, but both of her versions have been relatively irrelevant in every format.
I can see why wizards is doing newwalkers actually...
With garruk tainted there was no way in hell we were getting the same garrum. But maybe they'll explain how hr got purified and is now betterthan before.
As for jace and chandra, their powers can be attributed with zendikar, and more directly the eye of ugin, enhancing them somehow. They cant be the same, but they definitely left zendikar learning to control the new powers, but not totally.
Flavor, and busjness wise, this makes sense. Lets just hope they make themsomewhat balanced
Why on earth do people think Chandra Ablaze will be reprinted after Aaron Forsythe called it a failure?
Well, if they print another Chandra at, say, 8cc, all of a sudden Ablaze doesn't look so bad!
But seriously, the people saying that these are reprints with new art, or are Ablaze/JTMS, aren't PWs at all and are just a trick...come on, most people had to be reasonably sure that they weren't going to reprint 10 mythics, the last 2 core sets have been pretty good for the chase mythics/rares, no reason for them to just give that up all of a sudden. Core sets are going to be good going forward IMO, reprinting maybe 5-7 chase (titans, BSA, Gideon, etc.) and then the other half being new chase mythics.
It's the middle of the summer, the middle of Standard season, kids have money and time on their hands, etc. etc. etc. It just doesn't make financial sense for them to not capitalize on it, and the last 2 summers have been pretty good indicators that they have figured that out.

I thought the same but if look closely they all have the rounded box for their art, which is only on planeswalkers other cards have a straight box.
So I think it's safe to assume all five of those are planeswalkers.
