I really like Pyramid of the Pantheon especially in some sort of control build
turn 1 this
turn 2 keep up 2 mana for counter spell or removal if you dont need those then charge Pyramid end of turn
turn 3 keep up mana again this time you can use 2 mana to do something during opponents turn and charge pyramid
turn 4 rinse and repeat
turn 5 - drop an 8 drop bomb win ? or drop a 6 drop and have counter spell backup
it might even be able to find a home in a cat deck
The pyramid is not as epic as I would have hoped. But it's not bad either. And the camel is just flavourful as heck.
edit: Also, will Bolas's Pyramid be a card with an alternate win condition? BBBB: Each opponent sacrifices a permanent and discards a card, put a brick on this. T: You win the game if there are 1.000.000 bricks on this.
No one else has asked yet so I suppose I will: what purpose? Is everyone in Naktamun going to sacrifice themselves to Bolas?
Anyway, it doesn't look like it is possible (in Limited or Standard) at this time to get 3 brick counters on the pyramid before turn 4, even with a Winding Constrictor on turn 2 (in which case you will have 4 brick counters on it). Seems risky, but if your turn 5 play not only catches you up with your opponent but also puts you ahead I suppose it could be worth it.
That dromedary is extremely flexible. Can function as a control piece.
Adds or removes any type counter, on any permanent, Yours or theirs? Think about the possibilities with that.
Very fun.
I read it as Harry Potter and the Pyramid of the Pantheon
My brain went there, too!
Building the pyramid is a cool concept. I do wish they could have worked in a Lotus reference here. I googled "Egypt Lotus" to see if there was a connection, and the images were strikingly similar to Black Lotus.
Why not just bring back the proliferate mechanic since it's on so many cards in this set?
Two reasons. First, power level: Single-target proliferate is far less dangerous than multiple targets. Also, proliferate can be very "feel bad" in a -1/-1 counter set. That SOM as a block was all about grief helped out heavily. (An aside: My friends even called it "S&M" when it first came out.)
I think when they bring back proliferate, it'll be in a +1/+1 counter set. Mostly so white can get in on the fun and it can "feel" more green. (After all, if your main counter is the +1/+1 counter, proliferate is just Scale Blessing minus the bolster.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

By the way, I'd like to take a moment to honor the finding and showcasing of one of the rarist animals in all of the planes. Forget mystical Firebreathing dragons, Eldrazi nightmares, Angels, and demons. The true spectacle is the camel. I think we've only ever seen these poor things in fossil records! And it's big enough to carry a brick! All of us must bask in it's glory!

And this one can kill an enemy creature or planeswalker if you look at him wrong and it spits in your face
Skyship Plunderer also works well with the new brick counters. Basically, one could build a deck that focuses on proliferating the brick counters to do some rather interesting things.

It's funny - I think the Pyramid is undercosted, yet doesn't do enough for the cost. (Also, should have the subtype pyramid).
In contrast, while I like Quarry Hauler in theory, WOTC needs to get it through their skull that they shouldn't keep printing 1-off proliferate variants in every set. It's quite annoying. How does this differ from the other proliferate-but-not-quite cards we've seen? The fact I don't know is a serious problem wizards!

The biggest difference between the camel
and similar cards from Kaladesh block like Maulfist Revolutionary
is that the camel can remove counters in addition to adding them.

I know. My point, however, is that there are a half dozen cards with similar effects in standard right now, and none of them works the same way. It's as if Wizards printed a different variation of reach each set, like they used to do with Deathtouch.
This creature can block as though it had flying or shadow.
This creature can block drakes as though it had flying.
This creature can block any attacking creature if it's toughness is greater than it's power.
This creature can block creatures with flying and hexproof as though it had flying. It cannot block creatures with only flying unless your birthday is a prime number.
Quite frankly, it's incoherent. Did the cycling set need brick counters and -1/-1 counters AND a common creature to manipulate them in both good and bad ways? No, it did not.

(notice the 5 pyramids around with their colors, homes of the 5 gods, and presumably Bolas in the middle bigger pyramid).

LegoLotus. I like this card. Competitive? In my opinion, it's unlikely a competitive card, but I'm often wrong.
