1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I would have thought a better April joke would be "Players with no cash and no RL cards stop complaining about Reserved List thread".
Many players hope to play with RL cards so they can afford play stable non rotating formats like Legacy and Vintage and not have to play Standard. Why would Wizards want this exactly? I can pretty much tell you how many new boosters of Mtg I would be buying once I have my power 9. Imagine a number less than one and you are there. Might as well reprint them in non random booster packs, call it a board game, and wind up Wizards forever. And yes, I would like them to do this, but no, I can understand why they won't.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
I have been playing for a long, long time. My collection is large and valuable. I would lose a lot of that value if they killed the reserve list, and I would be ecstatic about it. WotC killing the reserve list would be so great. I would love to play the Eternal formats but they are just so cost prohibitive that virtually nobody can get into it.
Hey, isn't it hilarious how we're pricing vast numbers of players out of owning absolutely necessary cards to play multiple formats? LAUGH WITH US!
Only if you want to play high stakes tier level Tournaments, or take an otherwise casual commander format and have to have an ultra competitive deck, so after that no cards are Absolutely Necessary to play any format. You have a good game with the cards you have.

Except not. My LGS can't run a Legacy night because they can't sanction an event where half of the deck is proxied. Thursday night at the LGS does not meet my definition of 'high stakes'.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
The real joke was this last week of "spoilers". I think everything but one card that they "spoiled" had already made it out in their unplanned leak earlier.
A better April Fools joke would have been an announcement that they won't sell curled cards on poor quality card stock.

So half the people have the high priced cards in their decks and the other half need to proxie theirs to keep up? Well not necessarily, Ive played against high priced decks and still won, It is possible to win legacy without duals, there are close approximates that can work, its all in what deck you play (depending on colors, some duals arent all that expensive) and the meta your up against. And although its not high stakes it would still be a Sanctioned tournament and that sometimes dictates playing with the "so-called" big boys. I would normally save this dicussion for a different thread but this April Fools thread has brought up the old wounds that suffer some people. Hey I would like to get these cards on the cheap too but I didnt start early enough and/or I shouldve bought them long ago when they werent so astronomical, we cant always get what we want.

This actually pisses me off more than it makes me laugh.
You can count me into that group. Talk about putting lemon and salt in the wounds.

Lol I agree. This is actually too good of an April fools joke.
Chromium, the Mutable - Silver Control
Wizards posted a scenario that many players hope for and called it a joke.
