Wizards knows all this. They're looking at the money they made, and planning for the next time to release an expensive land set. It isn't this year, and probably not the year after, but they will. And it will be in a standard legal set.
I disagree that this is good news when it comes to the fetches. We knew that they'd be reprinted soon one way or the other, the only question was whether they'd be in a MM set or a Standard set, and pretty certainly not both. They would be more widely available if they were printed in a Standard set
If Zendikar's Fetchlands are on MM2 there is no reason at all to they don't reprint them in another Standard legal set in the near future...
Fetchlands are staples for modern/legacy/EDH decks and if they are looking to make the format popular then they will reprint them.
Wizard will not be stupid to release a standard-safe money card on a supplemental product. Fetchlands are totally safe for a non-shockland standard.
Why would wizards throw away the chance of making the highest selling set ever by adding fetches to a supplemental product?
Specially if they reprint the ONS fetches (wich will happen if fetches ever come back to standard, because wizards already stated that they will not make incomplete dual land cycles anymore)

This is exactly where I'm at. They're safe in Standard as soon as the shocks rotate, and it's such a firesure way to sell a set (the shocks made RTR/GTC sell like oh my god), so I'd expect to see them as soon as Huey... if they decide that the Onslaught fetches are safe for Modern (and I honestly don't know enough about the Modern format to say anything about that), or they somehow decide to make some kind of exception from the "all 10 or nothing" rule. And then there's the "shuffling = loading screen" thing, but that can't possibly be a deciding factor... can it?

In the article that they announced Modern in, they said
As with any format, there are some cards whose conspicuous absence will be felt. In particular, the Onslaught fetch lands feel like a strange omission, when the Zendikar fetch lands combined with the Ravnica dual lands will likely be important to the format's mana bases. I admit that it is strange. However, right before Zendikar released, the format contained only Onslaught fetch lands. I played many Extended tournaments with a green-blue deck that would have loved the option to find a Forest with Misty Rainforest, but I made do with Polluted Deltas, Flooded Strands, and a few Breeding Pools. For now, the lack of allied-color fetch lands would be one of the format's idiosyncrasies. There would be others that we would discover over time, and that's okay too.
The for now implies that they have plans to change that at some point.
So there isn't anymore info coming from this. This seems to be big news if legitimate(history has obviously proven to be credible) and nothing hasn't been mentioned. I am actually surprise that this doesn't have more publicity or discussion.
If there is a MM2 that is great in its own if it follows its predecessor's style. Here or some predictions for potential cards in this potential set:
remand
Ajani Vengeant, Liliana of the Veil, Tezzeret Agent of Bolas as the planeswalker (honorable mention Karn Liberated)
Birthing Pod
Melira
Damnation
fetches or some other popular lands (grove of the burnwillows, Horizon Canopy, wooded bastion, etc.) or even Urborg
Splintertwin
fulminator mage(love it to be in this set because the price needs to drop)
Aven mindscensor
sword of war and peace and maybe feast and famine
scapeshift
I could see them printing the titans(maybe like the dragons cycle from MM1?)
chord of calling
These are cards that are off the top of my head that are good in modern and wasn't in MM1. Please if there is other cards I missed or you think should be in the deck please add to this discussion because if true this is great news!
I would love to see Grove of the Burnwillows reprinted for Tron purposes. Reprinting Melira and B-Pod together will create an absolute frenzy.
Yeah, but the Melira and pod thing wouldn't have easy access to the persist combos.
Talking about bringing back cards, how about landfall one the abilities featured in the set. If they do print the fetches in here(source says they are) landfall would be great. Lotus cobra reprint would be cool along with bloodghast, ob nixilis, rampaging beloth, and more.
My guess that they will reprint the Zendikar fetches in Return to Zendikar which is already in their 6 year plan but still 4 years from now. Now they know that they need to reprint fetches sooner but if they put fetches into the next block it will steal the thunder of reprinting fetches in Return to Zendikar. So they decided to put it into Modern Masters 2. It will not be able to push the prices down much, but at least it will ease it a bit for another two years when Return to Zendikar will solve this problem.
Obviously the years are baseless speculation, just to demonstrate the point.
Return to Zendikar block can have the allied fetches to get them into Modern and that will conveniently allow for doing the enemy manlands in the block. Reprinting the fetches at rare in MM2 would do more to the prices than you'd think. The only card that really shot up after MM1 was Tarmogoyf.

I don't think this is true. Many mythic rares like Goyf, Bob, the swords, etc. didn't go down in value at all. Even if you look at rares that actually see heavy play in the format, the prices didn't go down, i.e. Cryptic Command, Blood Moon, Aether Vial, etc.
These cards didn't go down because they are actually in high demand. There are rares that were once valuable that went down after MM1, i.e. Divinity of Pride, Cold-Eyed Selkie, Kira, Great Glass-Spinner, etc. But these are strong cards that have never been reprinted that were originally from small sets. Even though they are good cards, they are niche cards, cards that see very limited play in fierce competition (even though they are good) and see more play in EDH, among casual players and occasionally in sideboards.
Basically, the very good cards, the format changing cards that got reprinted didn't go down in value at all unless they were uncommon (Kitchen Finks, Spell Snare, etc.) Otherwise, if a card went down dramatically in value, it's not an A tier staple. In other words, if the fetches do get reprinted in MM2, I don't expect it to drive costs down much (especially if the art is new), unless MM2 gets printed substantially more than MM1.
Edit: There is good news though. If MM1 really does get reprinted, you can probably expect the really good rares to actually decline in value to an extent, maybe Aether Vial will become a 5 dollar card for instance, while Cryptic Command might sell for 10. The good niche rares, for the most part will fall in the 1-3 dollar range, and the very strong uncommons would fall in the same range. This would be really good for the format in my opinion but this would only happen if MM1 actually got reprinted at a similar or greater rate than it's original print.
Its not surprising that Vial didn't see much (if any) of a decrease as it was bumped up a rarity.
On the other hand Cryptic went from a ~$30 to ~$20. Blood Moon saw a drop from ~$8.50 to ~$6. So yes, there are two example of cards falling roughly 30% as opposed to many of the other rares that fell upwards of 75%. Obviously Fetches will be closer to the 30%, but a 30% drop means a drop of aroud $20 for some of them. Even if its a little less than that, paying that much for the most important cards in the format isn't unreasonable.
Point is, they will drop, it won't be an insignificant drop, and if you want to introduce the plague of fetch land games on Standard just for a significany drop that's just greedy and/or stupid.
What the consumers want to see drop is Tarmogoyf, Vendilion Clique, and Bob. Modern Masters made those cards even more desirable.
Not sure if Wizards intend for that to happen, because I feel it's detrimental if you wanna introduce people to modern... People want to play with those cards. Ditto for fetches.

They were printed at Mythic. Fetches won't be. Wizards may not have intended or even foresaw those price increases, but overall they were probably happy with the result. They only increased because MM was so successful. As long as they continue to periodically reprint them it will be fine.

Cryptic Command went from about 30 to 25 based on median prices on TCG player, CC didn't drop 10 dollars. Blood Moon MAYBE went down 2 dollars. Really look at the rare and mythic rares that actually are the format changing cards, none of them dropped in value significantly after MM1 reprints.
There are good rares like Gifts Ungiven and Kataki, War's Wage that dropped by more than 70% in value, but even though these cards are very powerful, they are more niche cards.
Don't expect to pay 30 dollars for Misty Rainforest after a reprint unless MM2 gets printed much more heavily than MM!. Honestly, it's not cool, they need to do something like Modern Masters, but make it much more accessible, at Target and stuff, so players don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to compete in Modern.
I'm guessing it is going to include modern staples from sets Zendikar through RTR and other cards that never got reprints (remand, damnation, etc.) Though if thoughtseize has showed us anything is that a reprint in a standard set can do just as much as it could in a supplemental set. Thoughtseize would probably be at a higher price if it was reprinted in MMA and not Theros. So cards that have no direct flavor link could be reprinted in a standard set. While cards like Deathrite shaman and Emrakul could really only get a reprint in a modern masters set.
It apears that MM2 will have one of the eldrazi titans cause it apears to be absent of 1st fall 2015 set and we will have Widespread Panic in standard soon.
Well, clearly you just know everything, don't you? Did your inside source tell you something different?
Yeah, calling thoughtseize is like calling the mythic rarity in the next set. It was bound to happen, pretty much the entire forum was screaming it was going to happen, and maro hinted it would happen. That makes your source just about as reliable as everyone that frequents MTGS, including me.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
If they print a future MM3 set...Modern Masters Block Constructed?
The ability to have a full Modern Jund deck in a draft (though that wouldn't ever happen) would be amazing.
