Hey guys. Ever since modern became a thing one of wizard's promises is to make the format affordable by reprinting key cards. You can argue all you want about whether they actually achieved it, but fact of the matter is they helped drastically by reprinting cards such as shock lands. Thoughtseize, and Chord of Calling, as well as introducing Goblin Piledriver and Scooze to modern. If this trend continues, we will likely see one high profile reprint in BFZ block. Some of the speculated cards are Linvala, Goblin Guide, and Inquisition of Kozilek -- however, with the whole hidden treasures thing, is that our "reprint?" Thoughts?
I wouldn't bet on Goblin Guide because the expedition flavor has been dropped for full-on planewide war.
Wouldn't bet on Inquisition either, Kozilek's brood may still linger but he doesn't seem to be around anymore.
We could get Oblivion Stone.
I think there will be a regular reprint as well, I could see goblin guide quite possible, with some of the gobs that are rotating like rabblemaster.
I have a hard time imagining Goblin Guide in Standard going well, especially if they want to push Eldrazi. I could see Dark Confidant, since he seems a fairer card for aggro decks if midrange is still strong.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.

You make a good point, part of mine as biased on what was in MM2, but then again they do not hesitate to print a card in a set then print it again right away again. goblin guide may fit better in Oath of the gatewatch, or he may just not make an appearance on Zendikar this time. But dark Confidant, imagine it revealing an ulamog...ouch!

Everyone expects Goblin Guide... which is pretty much a guarantee that it won't happen. Watch its price when the set is spoiled and it's not in there
Do you feel in will go up or down?
LOL? It is going to skyrocket if it is not in this set, which I do not expect it to be. If you are in the market for it I would keep a close eye on the number crunch and buy them as soon as it is ruled out. I would not be surprised to see it hit $50.

I bought my set a month ago so I hope they do go up more. haha

Lol, I remember when Zendikar was first released, people considered Goblin Guide to be a junk rare. Oh, how wrong they were. I think I'll be keeping my four, regardless of if it gets reprinted or not.
As for the actual high profile reprint, well, we got Thoughtseize in Theros, the Onslaught fetches in Tarkir (although, I am not certain they should count as they weren't legal in Modern previous to the reprint, and we got both Piledriver and Knight of the White Orchid in Origins. As Piledriver got reprinted in Origins, I think it unlikely that GG is going to show up in BFZ block. Looking over what we've gotten recently, the logical conclusion would be a blue card, a green card, or an artifact as we have gotten a white card (KotWO), black card (Thoughtseize), a red card (piledriver), and land (the Onslaught fetches).

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

Hey, there's no meed to "LOL" someone like that just because the game hasn't turned them into a cardboard stock market expert yet. But yeah, the moment the whole set is spoiled and it's not there, Guide will spike. I expect maybe +$10-15, not comparable to the fetches at all, but if I needed some Guides right now, I'd pay close attention to spoilers for the last few days of spoiler season and turbo-buy some asap exactly when the spoiler is done. I managed to get some Verdant Catacombs at the old, still-not-very-low price that way.

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
I feel if Wizards wanted to do high profile reprints they would wait for the 2nd set of a block as it's in standard for a shorter amount of time. And we all know once the cycle actually starts happening they won't need high profile reprints to sell the 1st set as it's sets a new standard and all the cards will be sought after.

Yep. Me too. Feels very fine indeed. Could he get reprinted tomorrow and take a hit? Sure, I guess. Over time, he's gonna immediately start going right back up over time...
I think he probably will get reprinted. All signs I can see point toward a reprint. His potential to ruin Standard is even less with the new rotation structure. They might decide to give it a whirl..
But it probably wont happen because kozi is off doing other things this time around leaving only ulamog on zendikar. Maybe in gate watch or whatever, kozi and palls might comeback and then we can see a reprinting?
I think they are saving goblin guide for the next modern masters.

Why not? Neither of those cards are remotely broken in standard. Without the cantrips, or serious amounts of card draw of other formats, FOW is hardly broken since you wont always have a spare blue card you're willing to exile. And it feeds into the exile resource thing. And nor is counterbalance that powerful in standard without the top to manipulate the deck.

As for other reprints no clue, it's hard to reprint strong modern cards in this slower standard without ruining standards pace.
