Ok so o haven't seen a thread for this yet if there is direct me to it but I figured there wasnt sense it's been kinda early
So the biggest thing is what you speculate and/or predict will be in the set.
Its clear we are gonna get "fixed" versions of old cards and maybe some effective reprints.
But I also wanna hear what you hope will be in the set from fixed reprints to new cards that fit modern and have potential.
To start of with me i think Force of Will. If even maybe a fixed one.
So before I go into more I guess "reasonable" specs. I'll explain this abit.
I dont think force is a bad idea for modern. You are at the core of it 2 for 1'ing yourself of not 3 for 1'ing if you count the life loss.
Force helps mitagate the need to ban as many cards as it can keep alot of the T3 and T4 kill decks in check. It also keeps tron in check when it goes natural y3-y4 tron.
It also makes ton of sense with the possible mulligan rule change coming.
Anyways on to my other spec.
1. Baleful Strix
2. Mom
3. Hymn to Torach(a fixed version)
4. Crop Rotstion(reprint of fixed)
5. Vetran Explorer
Well let me hear your thoughts and your own lists and let's debate the choices.
Chiefly, I'm hoping for lots of new cards for characters on the Reserved List.
Karn
Orim
Ertai
Crovax
Greven
Maraxus
Eladamri
Rofellos
Selenia
I also wouldn't mind new cards for Starke, Volrath, Gerrard, and Tahngarth, and for characters who haven't yet received cards like Belbe and Takara en-Dal, but I acknowledge there's only so much room for legendaries in a set and Dominaria just gave us a deluge. It would be cool to get a Weatherlight recap set that gives us a ton of story-relevant legends at uncommon through mythic, but I don't think Modern Horizons will be that set.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Reprints: I'm hoping for the Onslaught Cycling lands (Tranquil Thicket et al), Astral Slide, and Lightning Rift. RW Slide was one of my first "real" decks and I've long hoped it could come back into vogue. Cabal Therapy wouldn't automatically replace Thoughtseize/IoK, but it would provide a powerful effect that rewards good play, making it a possibility. Not sure they'd print this alongside the Therapist though. Might also be too strong for Dredge. Portent and Scroll Rack would provide slightly weaker replacements for cards that are unlikely to leave the banlist (Ponder and Top).
New Cards: Hoping to see some old characters who have long been awaiting cards as well as some recent popular requests - Urza, Yawgmoth, Hal and Alena, the WB Innistrad Angel, etc.
A completion of a recent dual land cycle that was only printed in allied colors would be great. I'd expect the Amonkhet Cycle Duals if they're going to push a cycling theme. If they don't push cycling, the BFZ lands. SOI lands or Battlebond lands would be other options but less exciting.
Alternately, they could print some "Snow Duals" with a drawback that would make them legacy playable in place of the OG Duals, in an attempt to help rectify the reserved list problem (something like - ETB Tapped if you control more than one non-snow land). I'm not sure they'd want to push Modern to this power level.

I want the threshold cards to make a return. Werebear and Nimble Mongoose are cards that I loved when I was younger. Another one I liked was Hunting Grounds, but it's a little hard to use. Old cycling cards would be the second choice.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Prediction, they will not do anything for the 'duals are too expensive' issue. They might in some other product that doesn't go into Modern, but they won't make a legitimate replacement for original duals Modern legal. We may get niche lands that are good enough to replace what we already have in certain decks, but something equal to the duals would make mana fixing an afterthought, and I just don't see them doing that for this format.

Enemy colored cycling or BFZ duals would not break modern, it would be finishing cycles that are already modern legal. Both types have significant drawbacks. They would however make more deck types viable in modern. So I could see them finish either of those cycles but not both. I think it is going to be very unlikely we will get a new cycle of dual lands that are "good enough to vintage/legacy", rather than them finishing one they've already started in modern.
For what we are likely to see, I am predicting that we get a reprint of the mirage/slow fetches. People keep forgetting that until the Onslaught Fetches came onto the scene, people thought that they were borderline overpowered. They are solid, powerful uncommons that would not break Modern. I also halfway expect an old, pre-eight edition mechanic to make a return that has not yet been seen in modern.

That technically already put cabal thearpy in. It's just on a stick but can be recurrent if it sticks for several turns
I love Cabal Therapist, it's a great and dynamic card, but it's not Cabal Therapy.
Therapy discards on turn one. Therapist doesn't discard until at least turn two, and if you want to have it discard more than once, you almost certainly aren't doing that until turn three.
Therapy can be played from your graveyard without ever hitting your hand or needing to spend mana - this makes it incredible in a Dredge plan.
Therapy can discard twice in one turn, which is pivotal if you see something you need to nab with the first cast that your opponent will be able to play if the turn gets back to them.
Therapy is a sorcery, and so plays better with Delver, Young Pyromancer, Arclight Pheonix, and all the similar cards. Imagine milling a bunch of cards with Cathartic Reunion and dredgers, then flashing back a pair of Therapies from the grave off your Narcomoebas and returning 2-3 Phoenixes on attack.
Prediction, they will not do anything for the 'duals are too expensive' issue. They might in some other product that doesn't go into Modern, but they won't make a legitimate replacement for original duals Modern legal. You are almost certainly right. It's just wishful thinking on my part.
If they were so inclined, they could take this opportunity to turn Modern into a new Legacy fully free of the Reserved List. Just print functionally-similar but not strictly-identical versions of the top RL cards (duals, LED, Moat, Gaea's Cradle, etc) plus Legacy's top staples that aren't currently Modern-legal. But the odds of that are almost as long as them just doing something about the RL and salvaging actual legacy.
The Earth, Fire, and Air Elementals have been reprinted in Modern with new art, but Water has not. Water Elemental seems like a good limited filler card for MH. And seeing as there's also a Lightning Elemental, maybe they can also finally print an Ice Elemental so all six of the common elements are covered?

Only if the print an Ooze, Magma, Mud, and a Smoke elemental as well. (It's a D&D reference).

You know, I would be cool with more D&D references in Magic. I know Maro says they try not to cross the streams (and then Zendikar and Ravnica are announced as new D&D campaign settings, go figure), but I think it would make sense to cross-promote your products. So yeah, bring on the Magma, Mud, and Smoke Elementals. Magma would obviously be red, Smoke would probably be black, but what about Mud? Green? Black? There's something kinda neat about the idea of blue element + red element = black element. Though I would think Earth + Air = Sand, which sounds more white to me (and there is precedent for white being able to control sand). And Fire + Water = Steam, which is UR outright.
All this talk of Elementals makes me want to revisit that combo-themed Alchemy set I proposed.
So, who's hoping we might see more Pirates? Even if it isn't a tribal theme per se, more Pirates are welcome in my book.

Since we've got Serra in there, I'd like to see the Voices and other cards referencing the Song of All.
Voice of All could also be given some new Serra-related art and flavor text. It'd be kinda cool if MH had five planeswalkers who serve as the primary focus of their respective color, so for example most of the white cards are Serra themed, consisting of Clerics, Knights, Angels, and spells relating to Serra's religion. Maybe a new Radiant legend at rare.

Hoping in angels... Lots of them...
Possibly the fourth sister and/or a new Radiant and/or Feather and/or a new Selenia, but I'm not holding my breath on those.
Voice of All could also be given some new Serra-related art and flavor text.
Voice of all is already modern legal (10th edition print), so there is no chance for a reprint here and as uncommons, the single voices are downright a horrible choice: they are strictly sideboard cards with little to no gameplay value if you go against 4 of the 5 colors.
Doesn't he give a "Maybe :)" to most things that don't have huge and obvious problems, though? I mean, maybe =/= yes.
Personally, I expect some some old tribal cards (esp. slivers but also goblins/elves/zombies/wizards/birds OR clerics OR soldiers) and some old cycling cards (I'm going to call out Complicate as no one else has). While I'd love some flashback/madness payoff cards, I don't know if they are going to give us the same cards that they just gave us in Ultimate Masters (even if it would serve a genuine purpose of adding them to modern).
Counter something on 2 or three then just doing it again on 4 for 4 mana and have a bear seems a little to strong for my liking.
Force of will may be "free" but the stipulation or draw back is pretty significant. Go down 2 cards basically and lose a life which is not by any means ubderwhelming in modern.
You also cant snapcaster the no mana cost.
Not to mention there is now 2 bears who hate on force and that's Teeg and lavina. Teeg already sees play in multiple sideboards and I'm sure lavinia will see play in humans
Force is extremely unlikely to happen. I can see Counterspell, but I think it is more likely we'll get Arcane Denial to be honest, as although it is very splashable, has a significant drawback. I could also see either Foil or Thwart happening, both are "fixed" versions of Force that are much more likely to see a reprint in modern.
Speaking of counterspells, it's about time for Desertion to make a comeback.
