So the check lands will rotate out with the introduction of the new set at the end of the year, code name Archery.
Right now the Standard manabase is the check lands and shock lands.
It's possible, based on past core sets, that we'll see a cycle of lands in the Core Set 2020. I'd actually bet on it, given that War of the Spark didn't contain any cycles.
But given that we know the checks are rotating out, what seems like the more plausible replacement. A reprint of existing cycles or a new cycle?
Oh and remember Modern Horizons is also on the horizon.
My guess, something like a half-cycle, like new enemy cycle lands, in Magic 2020, or the fall set.

They can do soo much. Just cause they are not obligated or will do full cycles in sets is alread alot.
They could go with 3-lands(tryads?) uncommon lands (like the ones in Shards of alara or Khans of Tarkir) but only 1 cycle (shards or wedges) or the enemy cycle of the lands of Batle for Zendikar or Amonkhet.
My bet are either 3 color lands (reprints of the uncommons or new ones at rares)(for new i would like murmuring bosk type of lands, where they have one type and to tap for the others you lose life) and a 2 color cycle. One of them being a new cycle and the other a continuation or reprint.
As long as we don't get a return of the vivid lands, I'll be a happy camper.
If we are not getting a new cycle, we should probably expect a reprint of a cycle that is already legal in modern. However, since all the cycles currently in standard are reprints, I think a new cycle is the most likely. I would not be sad if they finished the cycling duals, for example, with enemy colored ones.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Core could be a place to reprint the allied fast lands, maybe with a new name to make them easier to fit into new sets.
Reprinting them with new names would only make mana bases stronger in modern and I don’t think they would deliberately do that. For fitting a set the old fast lands could be done on a war heavily plane and the metal on the lands could be armor and wealponry left with maybe dusted bones, etc
We have a few unfinished cycles that the core set could easily finish, primarily the enemy Bicycle lands (Amonkhet) and Showlands (Shadows Over Innistrad), either of which would be welcome.
Alternatively, I'd like to see a new cycle staring with enemy lands for a change. Like an enemy Nimbus Maze cycle. I think that would complement the Shocklands nicely.

I think lands with basic types will wait until shocklands rotate, so enemy versions of the Amonkhet or Battle for Zendikar cycles aren't likely. Enemy Showlands have some interaction with shocklands so I could see it happening in the next set.

Lack of tango lands (battle for Zendikar) disappoints me
But no matter the shock lands delay those anyway
Showlands have a good show and watch all 10 of that cycle end up very expensive one day
