Well, if the leaks are true, it appears that our decks this year will be based around mechanics. Flashback, Madness, populate, and Morph. Knowing this, what do you guys envision for reprints?
There are a ton of old morph cards I was looking at the other day that are just downright weird, but could actually be good in a dedicated morph deck. This makes me rather excited to see what the morph deck will shape up to be.

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

I see you've limited the decks to two colors each. Personally, I think that the flashback deck needs a third color or else it's going to be redundant with the previous Izzet spellslinger deck. Hopefully White? Jeskai decks need some love.
I think Morph will likely be Red or Black as well. While Temur seems to take the spotlight, I actually would prefer a Sultai Morph deck because the black seems more sneaky and plays better with the theme of hidden information. Ixidor, Reality Sculptor and Ixidron will hopefully be in here as well.

i agree i will be blown away if we don't get ixidron and ixidor in the morph deck
I was focusing mostly on which two colors support each strategy best. From there, it's a matter of figuring out where to put extra colors. In particular, white and black both need a second deck.
White has a little instant and sorcery support for Flashback, but green has far more Flashback spells. The Flashback deck could be either URW or GUR. White is probably the worst color choice for Madness, so that's not likely.
Black can fit Flashback decently well, but they just did UBR in C17, for the Wizard deck. And Madness would also be a contender for UBR, though only if the other three decks aren't all part blue. Black can also fit Morph, though they could simply make the Morph deck WUBRG, with some colorless support like Ghostfire Blade to boot.
Assuming they don't want to make another GW deck yet, the Populate deck is most likely WBG or RGW. GWU would have been the best choice, but they spent that on enchantments last year.

The populate deck should be GW or GWU, but as GWU was enchantments I am going GW. Sorry Manite I don’t see them adding red to it. Red populate would be haste and sacrifice at end of turn and while I could see it being a Gruul or Boros or Naya mechanic in a future set, I don’t see them trying to build a deck with it for C19, it’s too different from the mechanic we know and love. It wouldn’t resonate.
Flashback almost has to be UBR, despite wizards in C17, all those colors are heavy flashback colors that grant flashback and give bonuses for it... I could even see a Kess reprint.
Madness I concur BR as the most likely, BU is also a possibility (much of the red is vampires or creature pump) and could flavorfully include mill.
Morph I would splurge as WUBRG, but BGU isn’t a bad guess. WUBRG is the only way to get green and white into two decks without a GWU deck that would repeat last year, so I lean there.

(U/B) is :symbu: or :symub: and the same is true for the other 9 hybrid symbols with their two colors in for the last 2 leters of the code. ((2/B) and co are :sym2b:)
Alternatively {UB} or {2B} in [mana] tags are (U/B) or (2/B) T is :symtap: and T will give T in [mana] tags
Populate has 13 cards most of which would be reasonable to see reprinted, I would love to also see anointed procession and parallel lives and I would love a fixed doubling season but expect primal vigor.
I anticipate seeing embalm cards specifically honored Hydra and anointer priest as well as eternalize cards like adorned pouncer.
I would love a reprint of Rhys but doubt we will get one, maybe he will get a new card though. Tolsimir seems like a reasonable ask and another place to stick a Voja token but the anti-synergy of a legendary token might keep it out.

For your populate thing
No there are red token makers that don’t envole sacrificing/exile after turn
And ofcoarse the best for one that needs a reprint is Dragon Broodmother
And there’s more so I’m saying red is fisable for token decks like this
For flashback
Yea it’s just too hard to not use atleast UBR as colors for flash back I want to say dimir but it feels so wrong going without red I should mention flashback can be WUBRGable as well since flashback is also in all colors and pretty even too it’s just the grixis ones are stronger
There’s no way madness is not UR oh theory this could be the deck where gix could be here based on the cards he’s depicted in getting cards to the grave involves gix in the art especially since Oppression depicts him and that’s perfect for madness deck
Morph this is for both of you actually
It’s gonna be GUR atleast mark my words there’s now way they would throw out Rattleclaw Mystic and Animar, Soul of Elements was the best option at the time and can reduce the cast facedown cost to 0 no problem and plus red has more “When turn face up” activations than white and black and I’m sure WUBRG is probably what gonna happen and 2 reasons why morph is in all colors and decent in all colors and that’s a way to make a pre-spark ugin as a legendary since he’s the king of manifest/morph based on the cards and lore

I mean, it is possible that the Populate deck is simply GW. It feels a bit soon, but as long as they stay away from Cats it shouldn't feel too similar. Otherwise it's most likely RGW or WBG, as GWU was just done last year.
The Flashback deck will need to be UBR, URW, or GUR, as they also just did UR last year. Based on sheer card volume, my inclination is GUR, but if they're willing to do GW again, they could be willing to do UBR again as well.
However, there is the matter of the Madness deck. Without a doubt the deck will be red, and most likely part blue or black as well. Black has more Madness support, so my guess is BR. But, if Flashback were to be UBR, Madness would need a third color as well, and neither green nor white fit Madness as well as blue. If Flashback is GUR, Madness can then be UBR.
Then we come to Morph. Without a doubt Morph will be blue, and most likely green as those two colors have provided the most support for Morph. But, Morph as a mechanic has been well represented in all five colors. So, if any of these four are going to be WUBRG it's going to be Morph. The fact that all Morph cards can be cast with any three mana makes it easier to run a WUBRG deck as you need not be as worried about color fixing early on. But if they really want to restrict the deck to just three colors, then BGU seems like the best candidate at this point, taking into account the other three decks and their probable colors.
However, white needs a second deck to ensure every color gets at least two. Madness doesn't work well. Flashback could work, but white is the weakest color for Flashback presence. Thus, the Morph deck is the next best choice for white after Populate. GWU was just done last year though, so they need either a fourth color (at which point they might as well just go five color), or remove green or blue in favor of a different color. Removing green leaves RWU and WUB as choices, and WUB was done last year. Removing blue (not likely) leaves RGW or GUR, the former of which could be Populate and the latter of which is most likely going to be Flashback. So, a WUBRG deck for Morph seems like the best candidate at this point.
But if Morph is WUBRG, then Populate can't be RGW or else all four decks will have red in them, which I assume the designers will be trying to avoid. Thus the Populate deck will need to be either WBG or simply GW.
If they want color combos not yet seen since the switch to 4DC, then these would be the optimal deck colors:
BR Madness WBG Populate GUR Flashback WUBRG Morph
But if they're willing to reuse GW and UBR, then this would probably work best:
GW Populate UBR Madness GUR Flashback WUBRG Morph

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
I don' know. It is a little soon for another 5 colored deck. I think Flashback will end in Sultai for self mill and madness has to be Rakdos. At least that fits with Maros hint. I can see Morph in Temur and Populate in Naya. The problem: White is only present in one deck which makes it a little unlikely.
BR BGU RGW GUR
It is not unthinkable. Last year product only had 5 new mono white cards and no 2 colored card. The only multicolor representation of white was the 3 colored commander options of two decks. Populate isn't a big mechanic. There are only 13 cards. So maybe the white cards are more needed in one deck.
Why does the madness deck have to be red? BU madness seems reasonable.
Many of the red madness cards are either vampires or giant growth effects and given that vampire tribal was a recent Commander deck... I could see a madness mill deck in UB with discard, looting, and windfall effects to help mill and enable madness

Red is the best Madness color thanks to all the discard costs. No denying blue is good at that too with looting, shoot you could make a case for a UR Madness deck. But black and red both need at least two decks, and Madness is the best for both. I guess I could see UB Madness, but it just doesn't feel right without red.

Mark Rosewater give us two hints in his Blogatog. First was that one of the decks would have a peppermint taste. Therefore Selesnya, Boros or Naya is likely. The second hint was that another deck would have a cinnamon taste. Rakdos is the only color combination I can think of. Maro could have been in troll mode but well is the only thing we have beside the rumors of the themes.
Red has many cards that supports Madness. Red has rummaging and variants of discard effects, too.
But black and red both need at least two decks, and Madness is the best for both.
Are you certain they have equal color representation?? I thought they weren't going to do that for C17-onwards.
I personally think that's a little to soon to speak of a pattern with just 2 product sets but what we have seen so far is:
Commander 2017: GW RWB UBR WUBRG
W 3, B 3, R 3 U 2, G 2
Commander 2018: UR BRG GWU WUB
U 3 R 2, G 2, W 2, B 2
It isn't perfectly balanced but each color is represented at least in 2 decks and at most in 3 decks until now. We could assume that Green should be the next color to be represented in 3 Decks. Lets look a little deeper in the Decks.
white 13 new cards + 16 new multi color cards with white = 29
blue 13 new cards + 19 new multi color cards including blue = 32
black 14 new cards + 19 new multi color cards including black = 33
red 17 new cards + 16 new multi color cards including red = 33
green 13 new cards + 13 new multi color cards including green = 26
(If I count correctly)
I think the distribution is really close. Something I noted, if they continued to print at least one 2 colored deck than we can assume to get at least 1 mono colored commander option. In 2017 it was Balan, Wandering Knight and 2018 Varchild, Betrayer of Kjeldor. If Rakdos is the next 2 color deck than the next mono colored legendary has to be black. If it is Selesnya again than green.
Rakdos, Dimir, Izzet and Simic got at least one commander option 2018. In 2017 Azorius, Dimir and Selesnya. But who knows (shrug).

And that mono black legend
It might be gix since the cards he is depicted in and represented in involve discard
They aren't striving for perfect color balance, but I think there are still a few rules in place:
Each color must be represented at least twice, up to three times.
No color should appear in all four decks.
With the exception of WUBRG, no one deck in a given cycle should eclipse another deck from the same cycle in color combination.
Color combos will not be reused in adjacent years, and preferably not before most of the other color combos have been used.
Commander themes won't generally repeat for at least two years. Tribal is the primary consideration here, as the game's vast selection of creature types plus the general popularity of tribal decks means tribal is a theme they'll be revisiting time and again.
This all said, at minimum each year will have a 2/2/3/3 color split between decks. In practice this hasn't been the case, but I think it's the base minimum for most years.
For this year, I think the base minimum we're looking at is:
BR Madness GW Populate GUR Flashback WUBRG Morph
Morph in theory could be just WUB, but WUB was just done last year. So I think Morph will be WUBRG.

Yea if 5-color there’s no other choice than (pre-spark)Ugin (unless if he’s has a son or daughter) as a commander with the treatment of legends like
I think it'd be neat if Ugin left some kind of scion to watch over Tarkir in his stead. A legendary colorless Spirit Dragon with a WUBRG Morph ability. Perhaps a "daughter" of Ugin to be the "mother" of Tarkir's future Dragons?
But that's new card speculation as opposed to reprint speculation. I've got to go pick up my brother and get to work, but later I might delve further into my reprint choices, not to mention look at what each deck will need as far as reprints go.

BR Madness
RGW Populate
URW Flashback
BGU Morph
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
Alternatively {UB} or {2B} in [mana] tags are (U/B) or (2/B)
T is :symtap: and T will give T in [mana] tags
I anticipate seeing embalm cards specifically honored Hydra and anointer priest as well as eternalize cards like adorned pouncer.
I would love a reprint of Rhys but doubt we will get one, maybe he will get a new card though. Tolsimir seems like a reasonable ask and another place to stick a Voja token but the anti-synergy of a legendary token might keep it out.
Number 1 ask... blade of selves.

One at a time
For your populate thing
Alternatively {UB} or {2B} in [mana] tags are (U/B) or (2/B)
T is :symtap: and T will give T in [mana] tags
BR Madness
WBG Populate
GUR Flashback
WUBRG Morph
But if they're willing to reuse GW and UBR, then this would probably work best:
GW Populate
UBR Madness
GUR Flashback
WUBRG Morph

BR
BGU
RGW
GUR
It is not unthinkable. Last year product only had 5 new mono white cards and no 2 colored card. The only multicolor representation of white was the 3 colored commander options of two decks. Populate isn't a big mechanic. There are only 13 cards. So maybe the white cards are more needed in one deck.
Many of the red madness cards are either vampires or giant growth effects and given that vampire tribal was a recent Commander deck... I could see a madness mill deck in UB with discard, looting, and windfall effects to help mill and enable madness
Abandon Reason
Alchemist's Greeting
Avacyn's Judgment
Blast from the Past
Bloodhall Priest
Bloodmad Vampire
Distemper of the Blood
Falkenrath Gorger
Fiery Temper
Incorrigible Youths
Insatiable Gorgers
Malevolent Whispers
Reckless Wurm
Senseless Rage
Stensia Masquerade
Stromkirk Occultist
Violent Eruption
Alternatively {UB} or {2B} in [mana] tags are (U/B) or (2/B)
T is :symtap: and T will give T in [mana] tags
I will sort likely reprints by each color (manifest and face-down focus included)
W
U
B
R
G
Multi-colored
C

Mark Rosewater give us two hints in his Blogatog. First was that one of the decks would have a peppermint taste. Therefore Selesnya, Boros or Naya is likely. The second hint was that another deck would have a cinnamon taste. Rakdos is the only color combination I can think of. Maro could have been in troll mode but well is the only thing we have beside the rumors of the themes.
Red has many cards that supports Madness. Red has rummaging and variants of discard effects, too.
Keep in mind that Seasoned Pyromancer from modern horizon, Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion from war of the sparks and Cavalier of Flame from core2020 would fit here, two.
Are you certain they have equal color representation?? I thought they weren't going to do that for C17-onwards.
I personally think that's a little to soon to speak of a pattern with just 2 product sets but what we have seen so far is:
Commander 2017:
GW
RWB
UBR
WUBRG
W 3, B 3, R 3
U 2, G 2
Commander 2018:
UR
BRG
GWU
WUB
U 3
R 2, G 2, W 2, B 2
This all said, at minimum each year will have a 2/2/3/3 color split between decks. In practice this hasn't been the case, but I think it's the base minimum for most years.
For this year, I think the base minimum we're looking at is:
BR Madness
GW Populate
GUR Flashback
WUBRG Morph
Morph in theory could be just WUB, but WUB was just done last year. So I think Morph will be WUBRG.

If this is the case and Morph is 5 color, we might be looking at a colorless Ugin with a 5 color activated ability that does something with manifesting.

Yea if 5-color there’s no other choice than (pre-spark)Ugin (unless if he’s has a son or daughter) as a commander with the treatment of legends like
And something that interacts with morph like maybe turning your creatures face down that can be activated whenever you please
But that's new card speculation as opposed to reprint speculation. I've got to go pick up my brother and get to work, but later I might delve further into my reprint choices, not to mention look at what each deck will need as far as reprints go.
