Shards of Alara went after Future Sight on October 2008. So after Dominaria we'll return to Alara and see what really happened during the Sundering. The early years of Ajani in Naya, Elspeth in Bant and Tezzeret in Esper; the history of the Kingdom of Vithia and the traison of Sedris; Crucius and the creation of etherium; the foundation of the Knights of the Reliquary.
Possible reprints: Baleful Strix and Shardless agent.
There's no reason to believe this, and the Sundering was many years before the Mending.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
This is the Baseless Speculation section. I think we could eventually see a step back in the story, but in fact the Neo-Walkers story seems to be incompatible with the Sundering events...
The ideal contrast between the Mending and the Sundering, however, seems interesting!
Has there ever been a prequel set before? I'm not super well versed in the earlier expansions, but it seems like it could be a cool, unexplored direction for Magic.

The story of Kamigawa block took place (IIRC) thousands of years before present-day Kamigawa.
Many of the planes that have had blocks have potentially interesting prequels from a story point of view.

Wizards. listen. The Vorthos community will await the consequences of the Eldrazi Titans' deaths/sealing. We will keep the watch.

Well, this speculation was just shot down like a bomber in a dog fight. Guilds of Ravnica is the fall 2018 set... an Alara prequel would have been welcomed. Oh well...
