It's the new Karn from the set. He can combo with it. Fetch it and the shut off the opponent doing anything due to his static ability to shut off all activations from artifacts that your opponents control.

But Null Rod already existed and is harder to interact with (and easier to fetch) than an attackable Planeswalker.
Edit: I guess Karn only hoses your opponents' stuff, so sure, that seems reasonable.

Completely missed this. That is quite vicious.
Guess now we know why Lattice got reprinted in BBD... "Oh, we don't acknowledge the secondary market officially."
Well well well... foil Locust God has been bought out... $42 for a LP version, and $20k for the NM one, he he he ha ha ha... so, there must a combo figured out in War of the Spark... anyone know what it is? Wuzz'zizzit????

It was just a pricing anomaly that caused people to panic-buy other copies, driving the price up. There is no real change in demand for the card.
You're looking at foil, not market foil. It probably sold out (there are only two listings at the time of this writing), and someone posted one at a ludicrous price.
I definitely want to grab the Judge Sliver Legion. Is the ebay price likely to go down in a couple of months as supply increases or is it all upwards after release?

Typically, judge foils start out expensive due to almost zero supply, then they stabilize. They won’t rise for a while unless the card in general spikes.

Currently there's a bunch of Reserved List buyouts, people are targeting Weatherlight which seems inadvisable?
Expensive Jumpstart cards are probably worth yeeting sooner rather than later, when the set production kicks back in. I'd especially expect Allosaurus Shepherd to drop like a rock because it only sees play as a single copy in elf decks, when it does.

I wonder what's triggering the buy-outs this time? 2017 saw a lot of buy-outs because a few whales out there thought many of the Reserved List cards were too low for 2017. Now we're in the middle of the worst year in memorable history (post 19th century, of course), where many are having a depletion in their income and/or savings. Many are ditching their priciest cards just to stay afloat. And now there are buy-outs. I dunno... maybe I've missed something (I follow up each night & on Friday's w/ mtgstocks.com, so I usually get the financial news that way... oh, & there's Rudy of Alpha Investments... say what you will about him, at least he keeps the rest of us on the up & up w/ trends).
I do wonder if there is a tie-in w/ Double Masters... which should really not make sense, as that's an apples & oranges comparison.
Second stimulus in the works, right? People feel comfortable buying. Setting their money in something that may go up instead of the USD which will go down. Upcoming election between two guys most people don't care for. I've seen many people claim that investing in MTG cards is unwise, and as far as offloading product goes I agree, but I think perhaps things are different now than they were 5-8 years ago, and it's less bad? Compared to like, gold, or the stock market, it's maybe safer during the pandemic to invest in cardboard. Or, at least, I could see that line of reasoning. I could be way off here, and it could be the stores doing all of the buyouts, or they could even be fabricated buyouts by the bigger stores. What's stopping them?
I think that is probably about the last thing you want to do, honestly.
Every bit of 'traditional wisdom' about this game's value goes completely out the door if our economy finally just crashes. Absolutetly none of it will be worth anything to anyone if half the country is unemployed. This and a whole lot of stuff would just...not matter at all anymore. Guys like Rudy will take the biggest fall. I already feel silly and I probably have 1/100th their collections. Why? Because frankly, I can't possibly move it all even if I wanted to (and belive me, I really do). USPS is the least reliable it has ever been--awesome.
I can't think of a worse possible place to sink that money. I advise people financially for a living. Want my honest advice? If you don't need it to pay rent or buy groceries? Take that money and retire some debt with it (credit card is almost always the best kind--it's outrageously expensive over time) and then *do not run it back up again*. I would advise you in the strongest possible terms not to invest in MtG as a longterm 'investment shelter' of any kind anymore. My two cents.

QFT.
That said, when someone talks about "investing" in the game, I always hear that as "I have spare money, and I want to play the game in a way that is most enjoyable to me." If that means splashy foils, great. If that means Revised duals, wonderful. Manage your game portfolio, and acquire cards cheaply so that you can trade for what you want, or so that you can play the deck you want. Always remember that there's the possibility that the game crashes with the rest of the economy. Should I have flipped my duals? Probably. Will I regret not doing so if WOTC goes under tomorrow? Not at all. They're cool, and I enjoy playing with them. Just because WOTC dies doesn't mean that I won't be able to play with my friends.

Is it safe to blow the dust off of the market place? I think I just saw a tumbleweed blow by...
Yeah, what happened here? This used to be a very lively forum that I loved reading...
Anyway, not sure if this belongs in the Commander thread or the "Other" thread (maybe for 93-94?), but there was, about a week ago, a huge buyout of North Star, both the original Legends version and the Italian one. Ok, sure, it's Reserved List, but also a really crappy card, and it was hovering around €10 on Cardmarket for the longest time. Then suddenly > 90% of all inventory was gone, it literally went down to less than a dozen of each of the two versions, and Legends NM were going for > €50.
Anyone have any clue what caused that.
Also, Braid of Fire has gone up a bit thanks to Leyline Tyrant, bt the Mystery Boost reprint is likely holding that in check.
I can only imagine North Star goes up because people like to collect the nice Kaja Foglio art cards. It used to be 'playable' in commander to let you cast spells you stole that aren't in your identity but rules have since been changed so that isn't an issue.
Yeah, TCGp has spiked as well. Possibly related to the new Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge, but it might just be a run on a popular artifact.

This kind of thing happens all the time.
