This has to be the most ridiculous things to happen to the finances of standard in a very, very long time...
There has been a buy-out for Llanowar Elves for Core Set 2019... what kind of asinine point is someone trying to make about buy-outs?
Take the screenshot w/ a grain of salt... the prices will not last beyond a day or so once the dust settles and scared vendors will reintroduce the Elf to TCGPlayer.
Am I right? Is there something I am missing, like a misprint or something else banal?
Looks like it's part of the new player's Welcome Deck, so it's printing will be much less than other commons from CS2019. I really don't think this price will last long at all. It might stick around a buck, my guess.
Didn't this happen with Terra Stomper and some inefficient, but better than everything else in Standard, burn spell from those sets, too?
I am perplexed by the recent jump in quite a few foil commons from Ixalan... wondering if someone is trying to screw w/ the TCGPlayer system. As you can see in the attached image, there has been a massive jump in a few foils.
I went ahead and double-checked w/ the Market Value (not the median price) had jumped, but looking up how Market Place is figured out:
Market Price: This price point is compiled from recent, completed sales that occurred on TCGplayer.com. Market Price is updated as transactions complete and reflects the best suggested retail price of a product.
So, what we can read from all of these clues, someone is purposely trying to manipulate the prices, artificially, again. But this time it isn't through a buy-out, but another sneaky measure. I really hope this isn't a future-trend, as this can make the data that stores (online and brick-and-mortar) use for buying/selling/trading w/ the public. If this trend continues, I really hope TCGPlayer finds a way to combat it.
I believe it is obviously a fake increase because no one is that much of an idiot to buy a foil card (let's use Shipwreck Looter as an example) that was about 15 cents for about $12.50... It's asinine and banal.
Meanwhile, going through my bulk foil binder and putting aside these foils, just in case the prices stick.
Glitch on MTGStocks? TCGP still shows realistic values. I only looked up Interloper, but TCGP shows Foil Market at $.10, with copies readily available at $.05.

Nope, not a glitch... look at the foil market prices on TCGPlayer. I did the HW & checked it out before I posted here.
As I said, I DID look at TCGP Market Foil. .10 for Interloper; .12 for Shipwreck Looter; .14 for Storm Fleet Spy. I’m not sure what numbers you are looking at, but it’s just a glitch. Perhaps the glitch was on TCGP rather than MTGStocks and it was corrected between the time you looked and the time I looked.
