Welcome to the Other Format Price Discussion Thread.
Feel free to discuss price changes for cards or potential rises or falls in card prices for all other formats that do not currently have their own thread. If a certain format is deemed popular enough, it will get its own Official thread.
Please denote what format you are referring to in your post to help clarify if possible.
Current notable formats: Vintage, 93/94, Casual, Pauper.
Good to see that a new forum has opened up. Many were scoffing at the impact of Magic 93/94, when in fact cards that were very much kitchen table have jumped on a daily basis.
Eternal Masters discussion on the price of Vintage can be discussed, such as the now-ever-increasing price of Revised Dual Lands.
A good question is this: Are there any good spec targets for Vintage cards that haven't already jumped? The Legends Blood Lust took me by surprise.
Is anyone actually paying more than $5 or so for them? Doesn't seem like it, based on eBay completed listings. (Looks like there's an auction ending soon that's around $15 for two.)
Legends Recall has shot up over the past several weeks due to the format.
Arboria has been pegged for a target of a buy-out several times by several different well known finance writers, as the ability is unique and there just weren't that much supply. I think that it was in a Fast Finance podcast when the hosts noted that there was only one playset availlable on TCG, rest were single copies.
I have tried the card out few times on EDH and most younger players always imagine the card to be an expensive Legends rare instead of 2$ uncommon, so there will be less resistance to 20$ price point than on any newer uncommons.
Thunder Spirit is still soaring, altough it's back to 60 from the high of 100$, but White Weenie just keeps getting played in 93/94.
I'm also waiting for Unlimited duals to go up following revised duals. They usually follow few weeks behind, so I'm pretty sure Unl duals will end up 20% higher than they were a week ago.
It looks like City in a Bottle and Guardian Beast spiked fairly recently. I know I picked each up a few months ago much cheaper than what they're going for now.
Arabian Nights City of Brass also went up significantly, which kinda sucks for me since I've been in the market for them for the past few months but never had the extra funds to pick them up.
I assume the price of the Legends version of Recall is from some '93/'94 interest, since the white-bordered versions are still under a buck? I've had a MP-/HP+ one sitting in my junk binder forever, and a guy the other night said "You know that's like a $30-$40 card, right?"

I spoke with some friends, and apparently Oubliette is somewhere between "necessary evil" and "completely bonkers" in Pauper for Mono-Black Control. It deals with stuff like Stormbound Geist and other pesky undying creatures, and adds to Devotion.
It's not on the Reserved List (which is funny, I thought it was rare and reserved), but I can't see it getting a reprint in anything... it's a stylistic precursor to Oblivion Ring, but acts more like Tawnos's Coffin in that regard, and is pretty much out of the current color pie for black.
Yeah, I think it's Pauper pushing demand more than 93/94, where Terror is more popular and Swords to Plowshares is king.

Speculating on Pauper just feels dirty. I'm a cold-hearted capitalist with ice in my veins whose pulse quickens at the scent of a fresh dollar just asking to be made, but even I object to that. It's a budget format: the last refuge of the player who has been priced out of everything else. They'd be playing LCGs or a fifty-cent Uno deck missing one of the draw fours they found at Goodwill if it weren't for Pauper.

Pauper has become appealing to non-budget casual players too - if the only appeal was budget people wouldn't play it. And while Modern has destroyed a lot of the cheap decks (Affinity and Tron have doubled in the last year or so) there are still plenty of archetypes that one can play for under $30.
Mono-black Control can also be played without Oubliette just fine.
Still a bunch of copies of Oubliette on ebay at reasonable prices if you need the card.
I'm curious what your definition of reasonable is. They could be had for $10-$12 recently and now the cheapest BIN is $24.
When I posted there were a number of copies on ebay for <$15 a copy. If you look at the completed listings from yesterday, there are a number that were sold under that price point, and I suspect some of the others changed their BIN price.
I also personally purchased a playset for $13/each at a non-ebay site yesterday after my post when I thought about it.
Also, there are a couple listed currently 2 for $35 right now.
Oubliette is one of my favorite cards of all time, so I still have a playset (2 of each version) I picked up a few years ago for a buck a piece. I actually had 8 at one point but I think I gave four of them away to a friend.
The card is played in mono-black old school builds as well as a supplement to Terror.
Almost everything old school I've picked up over the last few years has skyrocketed.

One just ended for $17 shipped. There are still a bunch of auctions that will probably end in a similar range. It's a bit high, but not $24.

Is there any reason that purphoros, god of the forge has been climbing? It seems like he's gained a couple of bucks over the past couple of weeks. Is it just supply drying up?

My personal guess is that It's due to Theros no longer being a MTGO redeemable set, with some play as the current budget EDH player's broken Commander and R/W Norin Sisters being fringe thing in Modern. I'd say he might get up to $10 by this time next year, but nothing more for a while.
Library of Alexandria seems to be going through the roof for some reason. It's spiking like crazy on TCG with some copies even at a grand.
Yeah, Library shot up to 1150 mid. It's been settling down again since then, down to 900 mid, but something really must have happened. Did EMA somehow cause this? Predicted spikes in Vintage players or something?

Reality is only what man allows it to be. Few shape it so that many may accept it.

I think it's a good spec on Pauper, as it is great in mono black control to deal with big threats and provide devotion for Gray Merchant of Asphodel
