I just buylisted from them for the first time and I was wondering how long it takes for store credit to be applied to my account? I received an email stating that it was received and graded but I have not yet received payment. Is this normal? It would seem simple to apply store credit immediately. As a side note, the grading was as many have mentioned tough but fair. I think my entire order was knocked less than 50 cents from the NM/M prices. Can't complain too much.
I've sold to them over fifty times. It usually takes less than 24 HRs after it's graded. Rarely, it will take up two days. Sometimes it'll happen if it happens to fall on a Holiday.
I recently had my first experience with ChannelFireball and online card purchases in general.
I ordered some parts of the Modern Eldrazi deck right before the spike. Several months later they messaged to say that they actually didn't have some of the cards they said they did, so they cancelled all but one of the cards I ordered, making me pay shipping on a single card.
My package arrives and I didn't even receive the one card I was suppose to get! Instead I got someone else's order and now they want me to pay for those cards.

Huh? I do not understand the following:
1) You mentioned 'several months' when BFZ was released in Oct 2015. (amazing that CFB replied after several months but even if I believe you, I will cancel the order after a week of checking my order status at CFB website.)
2) How did they charge you shipping based on the initial quantity of cards and then 1 card? (again, cancellation right there.)
3) What do you have to pay for 'someone else's order'? (again, withhold payment right there.)
Ok, several months is really, really inaccurate. In person I tend to use arbitrary units of measurement for comedic value and I guess it accidentally spilt out here. That is 100% my bad there.
1. I checked the records and I ordered on December 24. The first cancellation of some of my items occurred on December 29. The switcheroo I was notified of on January 11.
2. I don't understand this question fully, could you explain it to me? My gripe is that I had to pay $4 shipping for the remaining $3 card.
3. I initially ordered (among other things) 4 Foil Blight Herders. Upon hearing that I would not be receiving these, I scrambled to get some for myself. I later received 3 Foil Blight Herders from ChannelFireball, but now I no longer need them.
Please email ChannelFireball Customer Service at sales@channelfireball.com with accurate facts this time.
I may not rate CFB as perfect but it is satisfactory.
If anyone from CFB is reading this, please improve on the following points:
1) When your inventory has 1 NM-Mint/SP card and 1+ Damaged card, I can neither buy a playset nor request the card since there is 1+ Damaged card (Not buying no matter how cheap it is) and I emailed Customer Service but there was no direct response to my inquiry.
2) When CFB missed a card in my order, only a refund was given. Satisfactory but no service recovery? Due to the volatile nature of MtG, the cost of card may have multiplied overnight. I was accepting a replacement.
3) Insufficient quantity. (at least make an effort to have a playset as I do buy random cards at times and its annoying to make several orders for a playset of a card while CFB restocks)
Overall.. If SCG is 5/5, CK is 4 and CFB is 3. (no fractions)
So this is my first time selling. Not just selling to CFB, but selling any cards to any store, ever. I have been sitting on two Dark Depths (1 is a foil) that I got in a ColdSnap Fat Pack many years ago. I stopped playing for a long time and i am just getting back into it because my friend wants me to play some modern tournaments with him. Since Dark Depths is banned in modern, I figured I would sell them to pick up some things I need. Got an email from CFB today telling me the Foil Dark Depths was downgraded to slightly played, so the value dropped from $100 to $70, and I'm out $39 after the 1.3 multiplier for store credit.
I sent an email asking why it was downgraded, and, to their credit, they replied pretty quick with
"Hello ____,
Thank you for contacting us at ChannelFireball. After reviewing the item in question we are able to confirm that the grade given is correct. This item has three (3) indented lines on the front of the card. We have included a photo showing the extent of the damage indicated. Please let us know if the grade given is acceptable or if instead you would like this item returned to you.
Regards,
Joseph"
Problem is, these indents were not there when I sent it. The pic CFB sent and the 2 pics I took right before packing the cards are attached. I checked both these cards very carefully, and if there were big indents on the front I would have seen them.
I packed them the same way I've been receiving singles when I buy them. I put each card in its own clear plastic sleeve, then put each clear plastic sleeve into a large Ultra-Pro semi-rigid clear plastic mailer. I put a small piece of tape on the top of each mailer to seal it, then wrapped the mailers up in the buylist invoice and sent it in a standard envelope. So tell me, could that damage actually have happened during transit? Seriously curious, because I do not sell cards and only packed them in the same way that I receive them from other stores.
Thank you for following up with us. We are able to agree that this item was not likely damaged during the shipping process. In the unique cases where we receive damaged items, but the evidence suggests that the item was shipped free of flaws, we would offer to split the difference of the discrepancy. We are willing to add the $15.00 ($19.50 store credit) to your order in hopes that it resolves this issue. Please follow up with us if this result is acceptable and let us know if you have any further questions at this time.
Regards,
Joseph"
I just took the store credit -- even though they are basically admitting that the card was probably damaged at their facility. Remind me to never sell cards again
I hope this is the right place to be discussing this, but why does Channel Fireball have so many articles about limited on its site? Do people actually buy boosters just to play limited? Doesn't constructed make them more money?

... yes, people actually buy boosters to play limited. I don't know if they buy specifically from CFB, but yes, this is a real thing. Personally, I usually buy a box of each set and my friends and I draft from that because we all enjoy limited, and we enjoy it even more when it only costs $7.50 per draft instead of $15.

Along with many mods, I've moved shop over to MTGNexus. Come check us out!
Probably MP, although that's grading it pretty harshly. If I paid for MP Time Vault and got that, I'd be pretty happy.
If it was graded at SP, I could understand it, but I don't think I'd be so chuffed. To be fair, the front looks pretty nice, so that probably justifies SP to some.
I had intended to post their grading table, but the preview deemed it as "Spam" so I removed it.
This is my opinion and experiences with Channel Fireball.
I've come close to posting my experiences with this company and a few others, but each time I get busy with other stuff, let it slide, and chalk it up as it's not a huge deal in the whole scheme of things. I do want to say that I've been dealing with CFB for many years and until early 2015, I've never had anything but exceptional service and spot on grading! They are still giving great customer service and doing a great job grading cards. But I have been noticing some minor changes. It's not that they are doing a bad job, it's that up to 2 years ago they were so far above the other companies "imho" and exceptional in all areas. As this company continues to implement minor changes to their online store structure, "imho" they are no longer leaps and bounds above the competition, but are still considered to be in the top 5 places that I buy cards from.
Here is a list of changes that I've noticed. You can be the judge on which are an improvement or not. Some other people might also be noticing this company slightly changing over the past 2 years. Some of the changes are very recent. Some are very slight differences.
1. Slightly increased prices
2. Slightly decreased variety
3. Product lines discontinued
4. They still offer "free" shipping on orders over $25 that contain singles Only, but removed the free shipping on orders over $500 that contain sealed products.
5. Lower "buylist" prices offered
6. 2015-2016 shipping charges seemed to continue to go up and are on track to be in the same area as Troll & Toad, but in the recent weeks some alterations seem to be in the works.
7. Very friendly phone support.
8. quick product reimbursement
9. They used to have a month long "Spring Sale" with new items added to the sale each day (1000+ different items on sale).
10. They used to have a month long "Summer Sale" with new items added to the sale each day (1000+ different items on sale).
11. They used to have a month long "Fall Sale" with new items added to the sale each day (1000+ different items on sale).
12. They used to have a month long "Winter/Holiday Sale" with new items added to the sale each day (1000+ different items on sale).
13. They have added a "holiday gift ideas" sale that has 23 different items on sale.
14. They have added a few different sales that last a few days here and there throughout the year.
15. Special crate deals have been added along with a few box price discounts, which are good.
16. I like to buy booster boxes, but can no longer do it with this company as the shipping is just too much. I understand that shipping is expensive, but when you pull up shipping rates from USPS and see what it should cost to be shipped to you, and then compare that to what they are charging, it's very disingenuous to say the least. Kind of the way someone used to sell something at a great price, only to gouge you on the shipping charges. This is not on everything you put in your cart, but if you switch a few items in and out, you will see what I mean.
17. Some staff changes in upper positions.
Anyway this is my current review of CFB and I would still give them an A-/B+ as a combined grade! I will continue to purchase singles from them, but pick up my sealed products from other stores.
I will also do a review for Troll & Toad, Card Kingdom, ABU, Star City Games, Coolstuff, and Strikezone in January of 2017.
