I don't see a ton of cards from Dark Ascension actually sprucing things up at all in Modern, but here's my list of nods.
1. Gravecrawler - A 2/1 for 1 in black is really good. A 2/1 for 1 in black that you can also cast from your graveyard is really, really good. My favorite card from the set.
3. Strangleroot Geist - A reverse Kitchen Finks without the lifegain, but with Haste. Very aggressive, but too bad it's so entirely green. Still, good card.
4. Sorin, Lord of Innistrad - Finally Sorin gets good. Pumps out tokens to defend himself, and they have lifelink, and he's in the right colors for a Modern token deck.. Great ultimate. Not much to dislike, here.
5. Grim Backwoods - This card grew on me. A land that offers repeatable draw is enticing, despite the steep cost.
Tragic Slip seems really solid for legacy and possibly Modern as well.killing all manner of utlity creatures and interacting well with snapcaster mage.

Tragic Slip will definitely see play. Killing 1-drops has always been inefficient. Not anymore.
1. Faithless Looting - careful study has been a good cards in eternal formats for a long time and its back with flashback in a format which barely has any good draw spells/graveyard enablers.
2. Sorin, Lord of Innistrad -
3. Tragic Slip - solid removal spell to be maindecking against zoo one-drops, confidant, mana dorks, and will occasionally kill a larger creature for one mana. Good removal spell.
4. Grafdigger's Cage - allround hate card against a lot of different decks.
5. Thoughtscour / Drogskol Captain / Gravcrawler - all three have potential, although they might not do anything at all.
Thoughtscour - good enabler for snapcaster mage / tombstalker / grim lavamancer / delver of secret.
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner + Drogskol Captain + Geist of Saint Traft + Mutavault could be a pretty strong beginning of a UW aggro control deck.
Gravecrawler has combo potential or if a zombie deck emerges (again the interaction with mutavault is powerful).
I have to question anyone who says tragic slip when disfigure is twice the card and still sees no play. As for my top 5 I don't think 5 cards in this set are going to see modern play.

Disfigure doesn't really kill a lot that tragic slip doesn't, but the upside is so much higher.
They terminate your goyf, you tragic slip their's. The morbid aspect gives it the possibility of being good lategame as well as killing hierarch on turn one on the draw.

Disfigure definitely does see play in UB Delver Tempo decks.
Question to those who think it has potential, do you leave it in against decks that don't have mana dorks in games two and three? Say you're playing against Jund, are you using it with the only targets without Morbid being Dark Confidant and the off chance you hit a Goyf with it? That seems pretty lose to me but who knows, it could be decent.
Gut Shot doesn't kill a Goyf or KotR, Tragic Slip can.
The issue with this is morbid is really terrible, and tons of two toughness creatures are starting to show up. Delver being one of them.(at least after flips)
Conditional cards that don't have a major upside just are not good. Dismember is still the best 1 mana removal spell outside of path, and that's not likely to change as removal gets worse and worse to push creatures.

The most playable Dark Ascention card is the flashback token maker. Another card to turn on Spectral that also is good against countermagic? Seems good.
Could see tragic slip in Jund actually not as four of - other removal already too help turn on. Magical Xmas land- for two black 2 slips- take out BOB/ Cobra etc then Tarmo/ KotR.
I've said this in another thread and I'll say it again:
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad: ...of course, right? Sorin 2.0 may favour swarms of little men over smaller numbers of bigger men like Elspeth, Knight-Errant does, and he might be in a bad situation by being multicoloured, but I believe he will see play in Modern (at the very least, in BW Tokens). His ultimate comes down one turn sooner than Elspeth 1.0's and does more against aggro and if you have no board presence (and your opponent does). I also see 5cc Cruel Control adopting him over Elspeth, as hitting 2WW is pretty hard when white is a quaternary colour in your deck, and Sorin is as fast a clock on an empty board as Elspeth and tends to recover from further board wipes better.
Grafdigger's Cage: It hates everything from Flashback to Persist to reanimation to Retrace to Birthing Pod to Bloodghast--how could this not see play in sideboards? And Trinket Mage gets it!
Thalia: Guardian of Thraben: She's a cheaper Glowrider with First Strike! In Modern! This has to be playable! (Making Wrath of God and Firespout cost 1 mana more can be everything when you're beating them up with a 2-mana 2/1.)
Huntmaster of the Fells: Solid goodstuffs in RG, at the very least. He's two bodies that trade with a lot of stuff and gains 2 life at worst, and woe to your Merfolk or Thresh opponent if he flips. He has stiff competition in Bloodbraid Elf, though.
Vault of the Archangel: In the right deck--one with some chump blockers and a desire to hit the later game--this is Ghostly Prison on a land. Do you know how powerful putting a 3-mana enchantment on a free, uncounterable land is? I see this in BW Tokens and Martyr and Seek (Martyr Proc splashing for Hide//Seek). Heck, it might become a Knight of the Reliquary target in Junk.
I'd round out the Top 10 with Drogskol Captain, Lingering Souls, Tragic Slip, Havengul Lich (you can make some pretty disgusting Gifts piles involving this guy), and maybe Faithless Looting or Tracker's Instincts (do not underestimate how powerful getting two creatures in Twin Pod is, especially with recursion like Eternal Witness). Ray of Revelation is good for yuks and pounding Splinter Twin and Pyromancer Ascension, at least.
The problem with hate-bears style decks (which run main deck Thalia, Teeg, Canonist, etc.) is that, while they tend to stomp combo and sometimes control, they tend to lose badly to other aggro decks, which run bigger / better creatures and more burn. Zoo, Jund, Merfolk, Affinity, etc. all tend to run you over.
That's a problem because aggro decks are typically the most popular, especially in underdeveloped formats.

If God spoke to you, and commanded you to kill your own children, would you do it?
If your answer is "No," then your morality does not come from God's commandments.
If your answer is "Yes," then please, please reconsider.
Aggro isn't very well represented right now, though. The biggest threats to a deck like this would be Jund, Affinity, and Martyr. But you can fairly easily sideboard for these match-ups.
1. Gravecrawler - A 2/1 for 1 in black is really good. A 2/1 for 1 in black that you can also cast from your graveyard is really, really good. My favorite card from the set.
2. Faithless Looting - Great hand-filtering.. in red? Yes.
3. Strangleroot Geist - A reverse Kitchen Finks without the lifegain, but with Haste. Very aggressive, but too bad it's so entirely green. Still, good card.
