For Nimbus Maze and Glacial Fortress, if you have a Hallowed Fountain on the field, then those two cards function the same. But I am just wondering, besides that, what are some ways in which one of these is better than the other?

Glacial Fortress is better in tricolor decks and decks that are playing more spells with multiple colored mana symbols in their costs. Nimbus Maze is better in pure Azorius decks that are mostly running cards with just 1 colored mana symbol in them.

I'm going to say that, obviously it depends on the specific deck and what you want from it, but I'd prefer a Glacial Fortress because if I drop the fortress without a island or a plains, then I still get the colored mana next turn, whereas with the maze I do not.

The only time Nimbus Maze is superior to Glacial Fortress is when you they're in your hand, you have neither an Island nor Plains in play (either basic land or shockland), and the desire for an extra colorless mana that turn is more important than having access to an extra White or Blue mana next turn. Other than that, Glacial Fortress is equal to or better than Nimbus Maze in every situation I can think of.

Basically the only time Nimbus maze is better is when you have a hand full of Celestial Colonnade and Seachrome Coast (in, say, an azorius control deck) and need to drop that turn 4 supreme verdict to avoid taking a million damage to zoo or something. I'd say by and large Fortress is better, especially given you're generally aiming to cast Cryptic Command in this kind of deck.
