Tectonic Edge is better for dealing with Worldwake manlands. GQ is better for dealing with bouncelands, Tron and Inkmoth Nexus.
Stone Rain was a thing in Tron once, when their plan to beat combo decks was to LD them out of the game. Now they just play (new) Ulamog. Doesn't matter if you counter it, you're losing 2 lands. If the counter was Remand, prepare to lose another 2 lands next turn.
Molten Rain sees play in Burn for the same reason as Stone Rain in Tron, only that you have a clock to back it up.
Crumble to Dust is pretty much for Tron and Scapeshift only. It's a lot harder to resolve against Scapeshift. When I played RG Breach (back then we had Sowing Salt intead of Crumble to Dust) I also had Boil, so I could get them with endstep Boil to bait the counter, then Sowing Salt during my turn when they're tapped out. Through the Breach or Summoning Trap threatening to put a Primeval Titan/Emrakul into play could work in place of Boil.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
Smallpox is by far the best. And with little effort, you can make it entirely one sided. It's hilarious vs burn, some affinity hands, jund, tron, control, amulet bloom, and especially, ESPECIALLY Bogles. Vs bogles you usually just straight up win.

Come watch me stream over at my twitch channel. I play Loam Pox, Ad Nauseam, and jank in modern on MTGO.

I love small pox and used to play Loampox. It just has poor game vs Burn as well as Graveyard hate. Unfortunately mainboard graveyard hate continues to rise and Loam Pox is at a bad spot in the meta right now.
Roiling Terrain is my favorite, atm. Really stings in Eldrazi B/R. I use it in my Twin deck.
I run mono-Black Eldrazi, and since I already have 4 Ghost Quarter, I threw in Crucible of Worlds. MTGGoldfish claims the average top Modern decks have 2.5 basic lands. I'll never miss a land drop, and I can keep an opponent off the colors they want. I also have as many Bojuka Bogs as I need.
That said, Fulminator Mage is probably the best, since he can attack, block, and give the opponent a giant F U on his way out. All for 3 mana, which is pretty amazing since WOTC seems to have decided 4 is the new going rate for land destruction.
How does roiling terrain work at all vs eldrazi? Exiling isnt the gy
Eldrazi decks tend to run 4 Ghost Quarter. Add ingest capabilities and fetches, and you will see several lands in the graveyard. Good timing before exiling will ping them pretty good.
Another card I should have mentioned, Haunting Echoes. If you've been hitting their non basic lands with Ghost Quarter, Haunting Echoes will bring them to their knees.
Pretty sure there is a deck here. Ghost Quarter, Crumble to Dust, Crucible of Worlds....
The most fun I ever have playing EDH is a land destruction deck. Marshal's Anthem, Enchanted Evening and Opalescence. The looks on their faces when they realized their lands go away is priceless.
Of course, in the next round of turns, I am promptly buried by every player, but I don't care. So far as I am concerned, I already won.
Perhaps faster is March of the Machines, Mycosynth Lattice, and a Hurkyl's Recall at the end of their turn.
Probably not fast enough in Modern.
Ummmm why has nobody mentioned the best land destruction in Modern, aka Boom // Bust? That card is the only thing that resembles Sinkhole in an adequate shell. I play in a RUG Tempo deck and it's brutal, you don't even need Flagstones of Trokair or any fancy stuff. It destroys any land-based strategy but also is extremely annoying against Jund, when you can function with 2 lands perfectly and they need 4+.
Of course, the "sac fetch in response" trick is also valuable from time to time.
