So I was able to pick up a Mind Seize deck at Wal-Mart for $30 so I was quite pumped about it. Then I saw this dude named Thraximundar in there and I liked what I saw and I want to improve this deck around him as a commander. I really like how he just smashes face and sacs opponents boards at the same time.
That being said, as I am a realitively new player to Magic and to Commander, I am not sure what cards can come out and what cards to put in.
You really want to be able to cast Thraximundar ASAP if you need to. For the rest, it really depends on the style that you want to build the deck. I like control or zombies. Up to you!
I think I'd like to go the control route here. My other commander deck is much more aggro based and I would like to learn and play something a little different.
Any ideas for cards to take out and bring in for that play style?
Thanks. Yes those are fine. In terms of budget I'd probably say around 75-100 on cards. I would like to replace the worst cards first, obviously. So I am open to any suggestions in that regard.

The scry lands aren't too bad even though they cipt
A lot of the cards that you've posted are decent enough to be played. I don't want to build a full decklist for you as I think this is one way to personalize the feel of the deck. You will want the deck to play a certain way that you will enjoy. I'll just state a couple more of obvious inclusions that I think the precon deck is missing. Card draw engines!

Did you just pick that up recently? Are commander 2013 restocks hitting shevles already? I haven't seen any in my area.
WOTC announced that they are packing 2 Mind Seize decks now when you order a case of decks.
I knew that was coming, but I haven't actually seen any more at stores - just leftovers from the first round. And I haven't heard of anyone finding them restocked yet either.
In Grixis colors (red/blue/black), you are weak to enchantments and artifacts, as you do not have great removal for them. Some answers are Nevinyrral's Disk, Oblivion Stone, and Spine of Ish Sah. You can also recur these with Academy Ruins. Of course, these are all dependent on your budget.

Please feel free to give some suggestions from the list I provided. As a new magic player, feel comes secondary at this point to knowing what to play and what to take out. I understand what you are saying but I am not experience enough to know exactly what cards are best for this deck. Definitely going to pick up Nicol Bolas
I'd take any suggests on the card list I provided up a bit on the thread here. I am hoping to play the deck this weekend, but wanted to make some improvements first.

I agree with his line or reasoning due to the fact I have won/controlled countless games off of the Rift, except I would not cut Phthisis out - that card can do a CRAP ton of damage to someone and if you can copy it and target other creatures, it gets nasty. Army of the Damned is a little slow and clunky for the deck you're trying to run with so I would instead take that out for Cyclonic Rift.

Control needs card, especially in multiplayer where you have to handle threats from multiple players.
Also, one of my favorite grixis cards
Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker

Cyclonic Rift. I would probably take out Phthisis.
