"Embrace the storm. Its voice shall echo within you, and its fire shall become your touch"
—Lovisa Coldeyes
Anyone who knows me knows that I am typically a non-combo, more casual EDH player. People that I play against rarely have to worry about me tutoring up an infinite combo. Right now, I feel like my playgroup is taking advantage of that. I've had it being a nice guy, and I am officially going over to the dark side. Let the full-on combo times roll.
From here on out, I'm going to blow my non-competitive playgroup out of the water night in and night out with dedicated combo decks designed to win ASAP and essentially ignore everything my opponents are doing. Of all my potential options, I decided my first weapon of choice was going to be a Storm deck with Yidris at the helm (mostly for the colors). Other people might go with Jeleva, Prossh, or maybe Selvala, but I really wanted every color other than White because White is so horribly bad. Looking at what was available and looking back at my experience playing Storm in Vintage, I decided that I could also include a few alternate ways to win. So in the end, I determined that would rock the following:
The basic concept is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.... either that or you can win with a Superstorm Tendrils of Agony, Aetherflux Reservoir activations, Doomsday shenanigans, drawing your deck with Laboratory Maniac in play, or Burning Wish for a win-con. And this deck plays a wishboard; I don't give my opponent's a choice in the matter, I just tell them to deal with it. They also have to deal with the 20 minute long turns, the fact that the game is typically over by turn 4, and if anyone complains then they have to deal with my Grand Arbiter Agustin IV Stax deck that doesn't let anyone play.
