A friend and I were discussing the possibilities of making separate battle cry and battalion decks to play together in casual 2H. I trolled around a bit and found a budget list for battle cry on an old standard forum that I modified ever so slightly:
The idea of deck one is just to get a bunch of bodies into play to take advantage of battle cry as much as possible, while simultaneously helping proc battalion. Then just drop more and more guys with battle cry to pump. Clear the roads with a little burn. Flayer Husk was something I debated removing from the start. The reason being that my criers have zero protection from removal and I thought to add Swiftfoot Boots instead, but added Abolisher to the sister deck instead. I know it isn't an even swap of functionality, but it plays into my strategy for deck two while still providing some evasion. And it allows me to keep the Husk in one, providing another body to benefit from cry as well as a Kuldotha target, weapon, etc.
The idea for deck two is to provide some a few more stout bodies with a little utility built in without (hopefully) losing tempo. Tempo is key to the synergy of the decks together, because obviously stacking the two effects together provides the most value (and I keep envisioning turn one of 'thoper, memnite, Pest on one side with Loyalist on the other with happy thoughts). The Arrests and Bonds are there, in addition to deck one's burn, to make sure our guys get through. I would also like to put in some cheap equips ( Silver-inlaid Dagger looks nice with the human-ish theme; I also own 2 Loxodon War hammer that aren't being used).
Like I mentioned before, I like the look of deck one. I'm not tied to running deck two as Boros as well, but I love both function AND flavor, so the idea of running that one as Boros with a white lean ("balancing out" the Boros with a red lean from deck one) is very appealing to me.
Thanks for looking, any suggestions will be well considered and are greatly appreciated!
Mh, if both your decks stay with low-cmc, i can imagine that card draw with Reforge the Soul or maybe Wheel of Fate works bonkers. Empty your hands with small crits and cheap spells and before your opponents can stabilize, redraw seven cards and go for more.
4 Ornithopter
4 Memnite
4 Signal Pest
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Accorder Paladin
4 Goblin Wardriver
4 Kuldotha Rebirth
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Galvanic Blast
Equipment (4):
4 Flayer Husk
12 Mountain
4 Plains
4 Clifftop Retreat
Certainly willing to take suggestions for improving this deck in a budget - friendly manner, but that's basically exactly what I want it to do.
My problem arises in making the partner deck. I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like it to look like in the end, I just have a lot of ideas for includes and am having difficulties paring it down. Some stuff off the top of my head:
Legion Loyalist
War Falcon
Daring Skyjet
Grand Abolisher
Mirran Crusader
Arrest
Bonds of Faith
Etc.
