I cannot believe France isn't going to start Henry, his skills can't be that diminished and it would probably be better for his moral to start.
That's just Domenech being stubborn. Henry would definitely go a long way to skew this game towards France.
EDIT: Meh. I actually liked the first half, but the second one was as dull as it gets. Don't think France is going anywhere significant in this tournament. Also, great result for South Africa and Mexico. I predict that France will draw again with Mexico, while South Africa will beat Uruguay.
I'm mad. My dad is going to South Africa for a month, to watch a bunch of games, including the final, one of the semi finals, one quaterfinal, and a bunch of group games. And he took his boss, after he promised to take me... oh well.
I think England is going to try for a draw. They know that they should win the other two games (although knowing how we play, we're probably going to lose all of them), but I don't think they're going to try as hard in the group phase, as they should breeze through.
Dammit my dad's going to that game too.... I'm going to cry in a corner
Unspectacular games today, but not every game can be Netherlands vs Czech Republic. I was happy that South Africa got to score the first goal, and the Mexican equalizer was also deserved, so 1-1 seemed fair. I dislike France and was rooting for Uruguay in the next match, and although it was reasonably exciting, the teams seemed unimpressive, and especially France. Uruguay were ok I suppose, and Forlan was good, but didn't get much support.
For tomorrow... Really looking forward to Argentina vs Nigeria! England vs USA can be fun too, especially if Rooney sees red again
First match today was absolutely cracking! Mexico's early domination was fruitless and South Africa showed how much home advantage helps as the starting XI produced a balanced performance. Tshabalala's goal was an outstanding counter-attack and a great tournament first. Total lapse of concentration by RSA's defense gifted Mexico an equalizer but they continued to make meaningful attacks that tested Mexico's defensive will. Though Mexico really should have put it away early, I feel RSA were unlucky not to sneak away with a win. Overall a terrific opening match.
France vs Uruguay was a total bore. First note of interest was France's line-up which proves something is either seriously wrong in their camp or Domenech is just plain retarded. There have been fringe reports of Malouda and other players being extremely unhappy with their coach who has made controversial (and downright ridiculous) decisions, and it showed today as Malouda, who has had a fantastic season at Chelsea, was wrongly left out of the starting XI. Govou, Anelka, and Ribery don't seem to know they're at the World Cup yet. Hopefully for the sake of football they figure it out. Both teams produced solid defensive displays but going forward were pitiful. Uruguay's other forward players made it obvious Diego Forlan is in a different league, hardly producing half a chance other than their number 10's ingenuity on and off the ball.

Was anyone as impressed with Korea as I was today? They seemed to flow flawlessly up and down the field. The passing was crisp and accurate & the dribbling was superb. Easily the best any team has looked so far in the tournament. Wow...
South Korea were surprisingly good and won deservedly, but Greece were as bad as South Korea were good. I'm happy that their cowardly playstyle got punished, and I hope they keep losing.
Argentina were a little disappointing, with only Messi really delivering, and even he had some supoptimal finishes. They were okay, but not as good as I had hoped for...
1-1 at Halftime...oh man, that goal that Green let it was huge. Big props to Howard for being so solid in the back. Is it just me or does it seem that the US is playing a lot more like a team than England?

What a huge gaffe by the English keeper to give the US life and tie the game. Especially considering the American defense has been extremely sieve-like. I suspect he wont be playing in England's next game.....ouch
Lol, England Goalkeeper is still too "green" to get into a World Cup Match...England 1 x 1 USA. Drawing vs US is really pushing itself to get out of WC.
"Los Hermanos" took a hard time to beat the ineffcient Nigeria's team, even with Messi, Tevez, Higuain, Milito, Veron, they couldn't do a higher scorer. Also their poor defense showed up.
Brazil has one of the weakest team of all times, but with every potential opponent playing so poorly, i think this is still possible.
Spain and Holland have good teams, but once they face traditional teams (Italy, Germany, Argentina, Brazil) they usually "chicken out".
Final Brazil x Argentina / Germany.

That blunder was pretty sick! Jeez! I must admit I laughed out loud at first, since I don't like England much, but I do symphatize with the guy. That must be rough, to put it mildly. As a whole, England certainly didn't scare me, but they should still andvance (and probably beat USA), but a huge contender they don't seem to be.

I'd put it at about an 80% chance of 2-2 (or, highly unlikely, 3-3 ), 15% of the US winning, and about 5% of England winning at this point.
England probably will grab 1st in Group C only on the grounds of goal differential or whatever tiebreaker it is they use to decide between which of two 2-0-1 teams is better.
Overall I would say it was a great game. Green made up for the first goal with his save on Altadore's shot. But man, Howard played an amazing game. The US is very lucky to have him as a keeper.

More Rooney action please!

I'm still supporting England and in fact they are a better team than USA, no offence. It was just one of those games.
