*sigh* Whatever. I'm so over S_S now, he's gone and that's all I care about. I don't care how or why he was ousted, he's out of the picture. Now that the knife has been removed, it's time for the body to heal.
See ya, Subbie. Don't let the door hit you on the ass as you get tossed out on it.
ETA: I'm not 'whatevering' anyone here, just the topic of Sub Spirit itself.
A suggestion: Close the "About MTGNews" forum, but don't delete it, move it to a section for closed forums. Maybe close it and leave it where it is for right now, since some people are still gone on break until the end of the month and will be extremely confused when they come in.
Basically whats going to happen to this is that it will remain here until discussion dies down enough to warrant us to close the forum. While it will remain closed (unless future events call for it's re-opening), it will still be visible as there is alot of important history within this forum. The drama is over, for now, we're just letting people get the rest of it out of their system.
Officially, Scott may have resigned, but he was forced to do so by the rest of the staff, which (finally) included Greg. He would never have given up that place of power voluntarily. I think this falls under the heading of "being asked for your resignation," not "resigning."
Raa essentially let me know that S_S was fired, and S_S was extremely pissed that he wasn't allowed to resign peacefully - he was kicked out and thrown face first into the snow.
Whatever happened, I'm finally starting to feel like I can move on. I'm left with some very bitter memories of Scott, and I still can't respect Raa for running MTGnews into a hole, but my overall memories spent at News are good ones. I wouldn't change a thing about what I did, and I'm proud of everybody who came through not only the last week or so, but through the last year as well. We're probably all stronger for it.
And now, let's celebrate Scott's firing with a demon, a girl, and... uhh... yeah.

I have no extendo-sig. Sorry, I'm just not vain enough to think someone will click on it.
Not to speak for him, but several times he's said that he has no desire to return to MTGnews again.
Actually, his more recent quotes reflect that he will go where the community goes, I believe.
Either way, I thought his huge post may be a signifier for some grand sceme of ideas which as as of late barraged his mind. You never know on these things. He IS allowed to change his mind as he sees fit.

I can't speak for rancored_elf either, but I personally will not be returning to mtgnews. As I've said a number of times, Scott was the immediate problem and the worst problem, but he was not the only problem, not by a long shot. I have no desire to be a part of a website run by Greg, certainly not as a staff member and probably not even as a poster. I've completely lost respect for him and will not return to the site as long as he is in charge.
Are you even sure that those posts earlier in the thread by "SubSpirit" were even Scott?
I think we can be reasonably certain of it, yes.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,

but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
Yes, we're quite positive it was Scott posting under the name SubSpirit. I'd bet my reputation on that. None of us (except perhaps JeffV and I) knew him well enough to impersonate him that well. The arrogance, the threats of physical harm, the refusal to accept any amount of blame for what happened - it was him. That, and he mentioned some things which most people don't even know much about.

You can't speak for me, but I couldn't have said it better myself. I may return to make a final post, but that's kind of dramatic and childish, so I'm not sure. I found Salvation several hours after I quit from MTGnews (and subsequently banned for quitting) and it has become everything I could need in a forum. The community is for the most part here, the people are great, and my sources have for the most part reconnected with me. News has great memories for me (and 9000 posts) but it was never the posts that mattered - it was the sense of belonging.

I was at 'news for 4 years. I'll probably still go over and see whats up every once in a while, maybe even post.. but I always went to news because of the people, because of the community. Now the community is here, and it seems to have grown even closer together.
yeah - obviously I disagree with you, John. Spam Warning!.....Amazing - even in a forum where posts don't count, there's spam. That proves that getting rid of the post-count won't help getting rid of spam! Thans for this excellent example! - Craven
I don't know if this was posted anywhere already, but I'm going to post it again.
I found this quote in the sig of Beta-Male over at MTGNews, and I thought it was appropriate for this thread:

I bet everyone knows about this, but I didn't until now and I thought I would post this if it wasn't already.
Well, I checked a couple of the posts linked at MTGNews, you know what?
The whole place still REEKS of blood.
Like I said in some other posts, it was like being back in a high school hallway, the bullies, the pushing around, the paranoid hall inspector....
And here, it smells, I dunno, brand new....
You know, that feeling you get when you open that booster at a prerelease and that delicious smell of New Cards just leaves the bag...
:tongue3: yeah, that feeling...
That's the smell round here, and keeps people postin'
And yeah, the smilies are cool, I've never used the dance one because I don't find a rational reason to do it, but now I won't be rational, so...

Honestly, I'm hopping the worst is past now, and MTGNews just gave me the okay to mod here if need be.
