Until recently I hadn't played Magic since 2001 (just after Planeshift). One of my apprentices (regular job-type apprentices, I ain't an actual wizard) at work got into playing recently and showed me some of what Zendikar's about. The new landfall mechanic yanked all kinds of strings in my head, I'd had a type I green deck years ago that was based on throwing lots of land down, and now there was a mechanic based on leveraging just that? I had to have a go at putting this together ... and Magic has sunk its claws into my brain again.
So the core premise of the deck is land-fetching. The same cards I'm using for mana acceleration early in the game are going to be turning the big creatures into win conditions later in the game. Efficient, eh? I thought it was clever. The Constant Mists/Groundskeeper/Crucible combo both keeps me from taking conbat damage and keeps giving me land to drop every turn.
Only used for casual play so far, but I think it's on its way to being something.
Any further guidance would be fantastic.
Thanks guys, you've been great!
I'd also add more Crucible of Worlds-type effects - but since you're in mono-green, why not try Life From The Loam? It is a really really powerful way to get land cycling from the graveyard.
EDIT: I'd probably also repost this in the Casual section, as this area tends to more about competitive Vintage development.
Yeah I wasn't sure whether to post here or casual. I'd like to think this deck is heading towards being competitive, but that's with no idea what the field is like and how good something has to be to be called viable. I'll take your advice and repost there too though.
Life From The Loam sounds like a great addition, I'd not heard of it. I'm looking to add a second Crucible if I can find one locally. Although the amount of deck-thinning you get with so much land-fetch means I draw the one often enough.
1 Crucible of Worlds
Creatures
4 Baloth Woodcrasher
4 Rampaging Baloths
2 Groundskeeper
2 Silverglade Elemental
2 Llanowar Elves
2 Wood Elves
2 Yavimaya Grangers
4 Constant Mists
4 Harrow
4 Skyshroud Claim

The landfall mechanic is definitely a powerful one...
I'd recommend Solemn Simulacrum over Grangers or Silverglade.
Grazing Gladehart is another really nice early landfall drop.
