hate thr maindeck ltlh. if I'm not playing sv I'd just play jund because consistency probably won't be there without sv or the delirium engine.
also alot of scapeshifts popping up thus far... ive been kind of feeling the pain of iok not hitting prime time/tks/smasher/gifts/coco. i am more leaning towards mana leak now..
Concept is that I'd like to build a UBgr deck as opposed to a GBru deck. I really like what snapcaster and denial adds and we don't lose all of the consistency from the traverse engine with the additions of sv and scour which also furthers our gameplan.
I built the list I just posted and went 5-0 in the first league. small sample size obviously, but even by feel it felt a lot better in that I was more proactive because of the goyfs. Felt stylistically different in a good way. i don't know, with all the talk about people lamenting their threat density I think green is worth exploring even without the delirium engine. I'm going to jam a few more leagues and see how it feels
If we are worried about threat density, what about splashing green for goyfs? I've previously thought about going sultai for goyfs and delirium but the BUG colors leaves us severely vulnerable to swarm, grindy matchups and artifact matchups. If we do take out the delirium aspect we can maybe make room for the goyfs and other catchall answers like decays, seals and pulses. Was inspired to make a list by Michael Major's article today.
Concern is that it doesn't have as many answers to creatures, especially non-pushable creatuers, but I think we'd like to keep the red to a minimum, but I don't think a second dismember can be supported realistically. Thoughts?
I was going to bring up Spicklemire's list too. basically Jund shadows with Stubborn denial. No Battle Rages. No white packages. I don't think it's the place we want to be to be honest. Leaves it soft to mirrors and midrange wars. Its configuration does not help vs swarms like Elves/Dredge either.
Was just about to come in to post about bolts re: Vizier Coco and Rejection vs. Stroke. I think I'm leaning towards at least switching one of my Rejections to Stroke. Looking at the metagame below for pros vs cons (other than mana efficiency, of course). Seems like if we think the Affinity matchup is favorable (seems like that's the thread consensus, though I'm 2-11 vs Affinity online somehow..) Stroke may be better.
We gain vs:
Past in Flames (not that we need help vs. Storm)
Collected Company/Chord of Calling (Vizier Coco, meaningful interaction here)
Ad Nauseum
Primeval Titan (big target vs. titanshift and amulet)
Scapeshift (another big target)
Bring to Light (if that's still a thing)
Cryptic Command
Worship (corner case vs. Bant Eldrazi, but it's coming in anyway)
We lose vs:
Plating/Ravager/Etched Champion (hurts the most vs Etched champion since that's realistically our only out vs. it)
Chalice X=1 (Eldrazi Tron, Sun & Moon)
Everything in Lantern
EldraziTron/Gx Tron don't feel like bad matchups. I'd say they are 50/50ish to me (I play 2 Rejections in the SB) which I'm fine with given that midrange really isn't supposed to have game against Tron variants
I must be doing something horribly wrong (wouldn't doubt it.. I'm bad at this control/midrange thing) because I'm at like 52% win rate on MTGO and the general opposition has been good and the meta hostile
can't imagine md surgical possibly working. it doesn't affect the board position at all and the chances that you are facing a deck that gets crippled by extraction ANd have the target be in the gy AND have extraction in the hand all seem awful
