Ral is there to blow up problematic creatures, x/5's, and the draw + one to the yard can do work, while the Ultimate in a deck with 20ish cantrips is 'I win'.
People who say swiftspear is bad...well I dont know what decks they play, its an amazing card.
Yeah its weak to removal, but its a meta call. At the time, there was little to no interaction being played online that week, once people started to lose to Phoenix you saw a ton more Jund, UWR, and GDS to remove things.
All depends on what you are expecting to face. If its 'I'm linear too, lets race!' then Fiend wins, always.
For sure, but when I was jamming this a few weeks ago, it wasnt creature decks I cared about. It was 'I need to kill inside 3 turns' and for that, Fiend.
I believe its advantaged against Tron, but you may need Kiln Fiend as you do have to race.
Funnily enough I have seen that on the Tron side they feel advantaged which probably means it's somewhere in the middle and kinda even. I think a fast start destroys them but you need to have it. You can't just cantrip a bunch and setup something because it will very likely not be a game with a bunch of back and forth. You either destroy them or you get destroyed.
Yep, I'm on the Kiln version, because I just dont feel online you get the luxury of durdling around with Cantrips.
I'm not sure it can be made even more aggressive at this point, its a Turn 3 deck. You could start to get crazy with Simian Spirit Guide, but I dont think the deck can handle that level of card disadvantage.
Because we literally want to be winning inside the first 4 turns. The longer it goes (in my experience online) the bigger the chance our opponents draw the hate needed to cripple the deck, or they do their own thing, and win.
I dont know, I keep just trying to make it faster, while not being quite as easy to hate out as the pure R version, which is certainly more explosive.
Yeah its in the same pool as this version, using Risk Factor and Temper as additional threats and value off of the discard, while having less controlled dig. I dont think its a wrong approach by any means.
I put it aside after I got punked out hard by Iona, Shield of Emeria those kind of 'oh you play just X' feel bads are enough for me to never play a deck again.
A hostile meta would be BGx and UWx based imo. If you are running into Push, Terminate, Path, and the GY removal those decks both can pack (main deck or side) then I think the deck would crumble.
I dont think this deck can hold up like Humans has. The thing with human's is the double of disruption + aggro that is happening turn after turn after turn. I've seen Jund simply fail to keep up with the pressure.
While we are more explosive certainly than humans, if the meta becomes unfavourable to Thing, then it becomes imo, unfavourable to this deck.
