Yeah running 1 Oath right now, but I'm usually in more of a pinch to dig for removal than lands or creatures and then it becomes a dead card. Not a fan so far.
Yeah, it's been done. Unfortunately it requires a bit of a workaround with your manabase, and adding painlands is not something i want to do in this deck.
Yeah I never liked Painful Truths, especially when we have a better alternative. I run both Township and Vault but you can't out-topdeck Jund, for example. Every little bit helps.
The incentive is that we go into topdeck mode very fast and need ways to draw cards. Abzan Charm gives us that, along with removal and the ability to save creatures in combat or push two extra damage through.
Any better suggestions are more than welcome as this is the main issue this deck has always struggled with.
Abzan Charm is so much better than Painful Truths, I wouldn't even consider the latter. I ran a pretty similar list to yours but with 3 Voices and 2 Charms, and a 3/3 Hierarch / Birds split. We need that black mana after sideboarding in 4 Thoughtseizes, after all.
Yeah they generally really just need to cast a time warp a turn until they get to awaken a land. They can Gigadrowse on your upkeep to keep you off mana and attackers.
Have you tried using Rule of Law against the Taking Turns player?
To restrict him to one spell per turn? That's all they need! Time Warp, Time Warp, Part the Waterveil, Hibernation or Gigadrowse on your upkeep and repeat til you're dead.
Besides, both Rule of Law and Eidolon can be bounced or Remanded very easily. I don't think there's a solution to be found here.
Another smooth FNM run ruined by my weekly pairing against Taking Turns - the most unbeatable, uninteractive, tedious and frustrating matchup I've come across so far.
I can board in all the Guttural Responses and Chokes I want, but there's just no way to win unless the Turns player makes a colossal mistake - which he's too skilled and clever for.
I've resigned myself to just passing a 0-2 loss to the organizer next time I get paired with it and doing something that doesn't frustrate me to no end, like drinking coffee and watching a Jund vs Delver match.
Anyway, enough ranting - Guttural Response out of the board is huge for us against Jeskai decks.
Sylvan Caryatid isn't a great substitute for Noble Hierarch, but if it's a budget choice then it makes sense. Dauntless Escort also makes sense if your Esper Gifts deck runs a bunch of sweepers - on its own it's not that great though.
Yeah KOTR just takes one Smiter slot if your meta is light on disruption and control. Taking out a shockland for Vault sounds risky, I'd ditch the Wildwood.

I'm not seeing any of the Hatebears deck in here either, their signature hate cards are Thalia and Arbiter after all.

You're not even gonna get to 5 mana most of the time, and even if you do, they're not gonna allow this to resolve.
If by some insane turn of events you do manage to land Nexus, they'll just bounce it at their leisure.
