You can see here only 2 Sleights and 18 lands. I know cutting down lands seems greedy, but it should make the deck more compact and more redundant which are good things.
I've been on 2 Sleights and 18 lands lately. I only have 2 copies and it felt fine to me, 4 seems like too much. You definitely get to dig a lot more but manascrew is an issue. Higher risk, higher reward.
The meta here in the Netherlands can be totaly inbred, so I'm really looking into the mirror. What about Ashiok in the sideboard, seeing as graveyard hate is comming in. Exiling a threat and possibly playing.
I tried Ashiok last week , he is only usefull on the mirror.
And against Abzan Coco, Zoo, Hatebears...
Chameleon Colossus is turning out to be a big problem. Bolt doesn't kill it, nothing in our deck blocks it profitably.. Roast?!
Until now i've played 5-6 times vs JDS, 4colour shadow etc..i dont know if put surgical after sideboarding...hitting a shadow is huge, but im not convinced at all...what's your opinion?
What deck are you playing? Surgical is pretty good against us. Shadow, Snapcaster, Snapcaster targets getting extracted is painful.
Im playing standard grixis shadow with no bolt and +1 fatal push +1 stubborn denial.
I have cut the second surgical for dreadbore. My meta at the moment is a lot of shadows, some affinity, dredge, burn, lantern and titanshift...tron is disappeared and eldrazi tron is very rare. thank god control even is almost disappeared.
I would definitely bring it in in the mirror. It's gonna be a grindfest so taking his Snaps / Snap targets or Shadows is gonna be a huge boon.

Just theorycrafting, but if we want to make our deck lighter by putting more cantrips, why not Mishra's Bauble? Ignoring it can't be flashbacked with snapy, is there any other reason?
It doesn't really set up your draws, and we're not trying to get delirium online.
Seeing a lot of Mirran Crusader on camera, expecting more people to be packing it now. Most people are on 4 Push 3 Stubb now, maybe cut one of each to have LB back in the deck?
A good reason to keep Bolts in if I ever saw one.
And let's keep things on topic guys - no ban talk. It doesn't belong here and it's pointless to talk about it already anyway.
So I'm trying to think of good mirror breakers for us. My thought is that an enchantment would be best because it's very hard for us to deal with. Has anyone tried Bitterblossom out of the board? Other possible options I'm seeing browsing through Gatherer: Monastery Siege (either get to loot every turn, or make all your opponent's removal and discard super mana-inefficient), Phyrexian Arena (didn't even know this was Modern legal...), or Leyline of the Void. Other options could be LotV, Ashiok, or JVP. Thoughts?
Bitterblossom is a no-go because you can't control your life total with it in play. Like you said, enchantments are hard to deal with for us, so what do you do when BB becomes a liability and you need to get rid of it?
JVP dies to every single piece of removal in our deck, I don't know if it's worth the slot. I like Ashiok though and have been running a Lili of the Veil maindeck for a while now.
What are your thoughts on the Control matchup? In my experience, Affinity, Merfolk and Ux Control are the three worst matchups (Check my results over 120 tracked matches); and Control is the only archetype where I am not sure how to win.
If we wanted to beat Merfolk or Affinity more consistently, the hate cards are pretty self explanatory: we would run more artifact removal, more wraths (I'm not playing Kozilek's Return, which sounds like a huge upgrade to Anger of the Gods in the Affinity matchup), etc. But what is the answer to a pile of removals and better late game bombs? Trying to go under is the only guess I have come up with, but a ~20% win rate means its probably not the right answer.
So your plan is just race or die. That's not a great plan, and the exact reason why I play an Echoing Truth in the sideboard. It deals with tokens, enchantments, hellbent LOTV upticks, planeswalkers and more.
Some spicy tech in one of yesterday's three Grixis Shadow 5-0 finishes - Kira out of the side. Thoughts?

How are you going to give this flashback if it's still on the stack?

The life loss of Dark Confidant will roll over you before its CA rolls over anyone else. That card has no place in our deck whatsoever.

Chiefly, do we keep Denials? Go up to 4 even? Is Surgical Extraction good enough?
