Moldering Wellspring - 1GG Enchantment
Whenever an opponent casts a spell, you may discard a creature card. If you do, put X 1/1 Saproling creature tokens onto the battlefield, where X is equal to that spell's converted mana cost.
Shaman of Nature's Balance - 2GG Creature - Human Shaman
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under an opponent's control, you may search your library for a creature card with less than or equal converted mana cost, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library. X, Discard a creature card with converted mana cost X: Shaman of Nature's Balance deals X to each creature with flying and each player. 2/2
So we get a red Savannah Lions with no drawback that can also be a 3-mana Bolt+Savannah Lions? I don't think so.
Also, a green Bitterblossom that doesn't cost you any life (I realize the tokens don't have flying and as a creature it's more vulnerable), with the option to get get that card + tutor for almost anything you may need. I don't think so either (a very minor point, but the existence of split cards puts some constraints on mechanics like this; for example the green one lets you tutor for Crime // Punishment and cast the Orzhov half for free)
Finally: this is Kicker (I know many mechanics are, but there's really no reason to not word this as Kicker as it's shorter and more intuitive).
Or did you mean for the creature to be sacrificed as an ETB trigger if you used the Invoke mode, just as Evoke does? The cards are still overpowered if that's the case, but it would go in the right direction.
Tough crowd, lol. Nope, I meant them just as they are. They need to be pushed in order to create the right amount of tension between two options. I figure a pushed body is more in line with today's design standards than an over powered effect. I'm also designing these as something that might fit into the smaller cubes (my own), so naturally, the bar is set fairly high and will appear obviously above the curve. You may scoff, but if I'm going to suggest a card, I should at least be able to slot it into my cube.
Also, I really see no argument as to why red can't have a Savannah Lions by today's standards other than wizards hasn't taken the time to print one yet. But I can see how it might offend a person's sensibilities, so imagine it says "can't block" on it. It would still be a fine inclusion even with that sort of drawback. Inner Growth is no Bitterblossom either. In fact it's comparable to Master of the Wild Hunt in that Master puts more power on the board than Inner Growth does with both coming down on curve.
@PyreDream: I always like the Augur cycle. That is a cool design.
@6jerfz: Reminds me of Dusk Urchins. That's another card I really liked.
You know what this idea really needs? A sense of tension. It should force you to make a choice between the creature and the effect in some way. Similar to Evoke except in reverse. That means an aggressively costed body and an alternate cost to create an etb effect.
Inner Might - R Creature - Elemental
Invoke 1 - 1RR(You may cast this card for its invoke cost. If you do, search your library for a red instant or sorcery card with converted mana cost 1 or less and cast it without paying its mana cost.) 2/1
Inner Growth - 1G Creature - Elemental

Invoke 3 - 2GG(You may cast this card for its invoke cost. If you do, search your library for a green instant or sorcery card with converted mana cost 3 or less and cast it without paying its mana cost.) 0/3
Alright then, if I can't have my original idea then I want a build your own ETB effect that turns my early game beaters into late game value.

A common rarity body with the that kind of effect for each color. Acceptable?
EDIT: Made it one drop. I like it better that way.

Wow Theogeny! I'll have whatever you're smoking, as that might be the most OP thing I've ever seen posted in this thread.

Discard a card: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

Oh man. That's crazy good. At first glance, it seems overpowered, but it may actually be fair. I can't see discarding three or more with any regularity, but maybe there should be a hard cap of three activations/turn just to be safe. Could also be a 2/2 to make it a nice aggro pick.
Ooo, aggro stats would be sweet. I love Lotus Cobra cos' I can easily put it in aggro. I'd love this guy in aggro too.
The comparison to Bloodbraid is apt. I wonder how cubable something like you suggest would be. Needing to have the card in your hand to free cast it would up the cost limit, but it might make the card too restrictive as well. Cool idea I guess, but probably not workable by today's standards.
The green one would need to be more expensive and hit spells of a higher CMC. How many 1-2cc spells are there for it to target in the cube, 3-4? Seems too narrow. If it could clip 3 or less, it would at least have 2-3 more targets it could get. If it was 4 or less, it would be super badass, because it could grab a Natural Order and then sacrifice itself to it!
Hmm, utility type etb effects like this one are better on cheaper cards, but you're right about green. The options are limited for green non-creature spells in general. Thus:

I believe cards you cast from your hand enter the battlefield from the stack. All except lands, so the card should have a nonland clause in there. Cards that say "from your hand onto the battlefield" are the ones meant to be affected.
Overthrown Bastion Land t: Add G or W to your mana pool. Target creature an opponent controls gets +1/+1 until the beginning of your next turn.
(could be a cycle)
Bleeding Landscape Land t, Reveal two cards from your hand that share a color: Add one mana to your mana pool of the revealed cards' shared color.
Mana Ossuary Land t: Add 1 to your mana pool. t: Choose a card in your graveyard: Add one mana to your mana pool of any of the chosen card's colors.
Shifting Burnyards Land t: Add 1 to your mana pool. t: Add B or R to your mana pool, then sacrifice Shifting Burnyards. If you do, search your library for a basic swamp or basic mountain and put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library.
