I managed to get the elusive Dragon Shield Turquoise sleeves 2 months ago. I only picked up 1 box because I wanted to see if they were any different than the standard DS and/or KMCs we all use. I single-sleeve and felt I'd give the community a "post-purchase" review.
Good
-Perfectly flat in box
-Sleeves are a great color (best by DS by far) that is 100% opaque
-Sleeves hold up to shuffling (mash, pile, bridge), scratches, grime
-Only 1 top-right corner split
-Several envious players for this hard-to-find item
Bad
-Warping
-DS "stickiness"
In short, I am looking to sleeve my cube + legacy items with 1 uniform product. Dragon Shield: Turquoise will NOT be my choice.
Why? Out of the box, DS: Turq are flat (unlike the pringles-esq curve of standard DS sleeves. Unused sleeves in the box are STILL flat after 2 months + no card. After 2 or 3 high level events, 2 major issues emerged: 1) cards are starting to cling/stick to each other and 2) sleeves are starting to curve/warp. I have nothing against DS -- I try to rate items based on personal experiences. These are the best DS product they have made durability-wise. However, I feel extended use of the Turquoise threatens to damage my cards.
The KMC Matte Browns I sought to replace (dings and scratches, a few splits) don't suffer the same amount of stickiness (very slight) + don't warp whatsoever. KMC Browns are ~1 year old.
EDIT: I will have to try the KMC Hyper Mattes and upcoming Ultra Pro: Pro Slayers

I would look this up, but perhaps hairspray. It may make the foam too hard but is used in modeling sometimes (model trains). You can also try heat to melt down the exposed "chipping off" parts. A blow dryer can melt foam to varying severities. How to prevent it from getting crusty or hard is an issue though.

Does anyone have any information regarding the transparency of the backs of KMC matte, hypermatte and dragonshields? I currently use UltraPro sleeves for my cube and because some of my cards are gold bordered with different backs, you can see them through the sleeve (same also goes for double faced cards). I plan to buy a bunch of new sleeves in the near future and don't want to get burned if they're semi-transparent. Thanks
KMC matte browns are also legit. Some scratching marks here and there but I have these as my current legacy competitive setup (no perfect fit needed). 100% opaque. I ran the flip Garruk the other week.
Honestly, when I have the chance / ability to pickup new sleeves (total non-priority atm) it's going to be KMC hyper-matte.

EDIT: Seems I was wrong. He reports them splitting all the time. Time to look for other flamboyant sleeves...
Gold Dragon Shield is the best "flashy" (for lack of a better word) near-flamboyant sleeve I'd run. The Pinks are see-through. I inquired about Purple a while back but didn't like their real-life look.

The kmc hyper mats are awesome. I would say its a mix between the texture of ultra pros, with the durability and feel of the normal kmc mats.
Shuffle feel? Stick-factor? Durability? I too have questions only I'd be willing to resleeve my entire collection (I heavily downsized recently so a potomac order could suffice)

I always wonder what people do to get these results. I've been using the same set of KMC Matte Blues on my Legacy deck for several months and don't have any bent corners. They survived the especially rigorous testing leading up to, and the subsequent playing in, 9 rounds of GP Denver.
Literally, just pile-shuffling left scratch marks on the cards. I cut my nails the morning of the event so it can't be blamed on fingernails. I mash-shuffled and did a handful of simple riffle-shuffles and found the corners immediately bent. Not even hard/tough shuffling. KMC mat browns died after like 6 hours of playing. Great color, great satin-silky smooth feeling...they are now sitting in my deck box with legacy Maverick where I left them.
Pro-mattes are definitely nice. Those corners die immediately but I think it's safe to say they are very durable. I'm more concerned with the inconsistent cut. If I'm resleeving, I want the investment to be worth it. Currently have brown dragon shields. Maybe I need to go KMC super's instead. The mat browns just didn't hold up after a legacy tourney.

Anyone else experiencing that the Kmc matte starts to get quite sticky after just a few rounds of use.
I have my cube double sleeved using the KMC matte brown and after a few months of use (we cube very sporadically so maybe 10-20 rounds) I feel that the cards tend to stick to each other and shuffling is much harder then shuffling for instance Ultra Pro matte.
I just bought a pack of KMC MAT browns myself. test out the product before I resleeve the whole cube. The corners bent immediately and backs scuffed/scratched right away. Although they were nice to hold in my hand, I was extremely disappointed in the durability through a 6 round event. I didn't experience stickiness but am already concerned about sleeves looking marked.
I'm trying to move away from dragon shield (bending and inconsistent cut) so perhaps I'll give UP mattes a try. I only know 1 person who uses them exclusively.

I also ordered a box from Designcraft, but since they sent it, it appears to have disappeared from the face of the earth. I check the tracking, and there haven't been any updates for a couple of weeks. The tracking is following it until it left the US, then when I check the tracking for my country's post system, it contains no info except that it has been "picked up" at the US end, and that it supposedly is still in the US.
Took some time. Tracking with USPS was horrible. FedEx or UPS is usually very accurate. My package stayed in the USA and the monitoring of the boy's location was subpar at best. It wasn't until I finished work at 430pm that they updated tracking to say it was delivered earlier at 135. It will get to you. And it will be worth the wait

As a follow up, I got my box and it's better than anticipated. I'm adding liners to the wood as padding (like drawer/cabinet liner). I'll post pictures when it's all done. Should be good to go for real no later than Sunday

Got my box from DesignCraft the other day, and it is absolutely perfect for my 360-card, single-sleeved cube including basics, tokens and extra sleeves. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a storage solution for their cube to check them out.
Good to know! Mine should be coming today. I'm so excited (it's a box...but it's MY box).

I went to the store and even to the naked eye it was too hard to show the diff between matte and super. The owner did his best to explain. Basically the matte is a "duller" back whereas glossy shines.
The dark blue matte is an extremely dark navy. Seeing it in perfect lighting, it was almost comical to compare it to the black mattes. Turning the package at certain obscure angles helped show it's indeed a faint blue, but we're talking the next best thing to black.

It's time for me to resleeve the peasant cube (the matte black ultra pro's are splitting like crazy). I'm thinking of buying a box of 10 KMC Super Black sleeves from potomacdist.
1) Are KMC Super black sleeves quality enough to last around a year, possibly longer, and remain looking and feeling good?
2) Has anybody had experiences with dealing with potomacdist internationally?
1. I went home last weekend for a day and a half...in doing so I picked up a box of cards/sleeves I had sitting in my room. There are about 100 KMC super blacks in there from years and years ago. Still in pristine shape. They don't deteriorate/loose that slick feel. However, the KMC super blacks are fingerprint-happy. If you get annoyed by that, I'd recommend some other kind of black.
I will say that many of my KMC's from years ago (talking 5+ years back) are still in great shape. Some colors are sheer (which is why I ask about the opacity in this thread for colors I haven't seen). I don't have a KMC black Matte to compare. If I'm able to run out to a store, I'll post a comparison...but that may take some time given my schedule/life.
It would be great to see all card sleeves against one another. Especially if you run DFC or have some HP condition cards.
