I'd use perfect hards and double sleeve if you want protection. They're a bit bulky/cumbersome that way, but at least they're playable. Toploaders are too unmanageable to cube with.
It's made out of the same material as the front of a regular sleeve. So it can be slightly less clear than a perfect fit which uses much thinner material.
It's a big difference. I couldn't ultimately switch over because of how much thicker they made each individual card. It's an extra 50% increase at least. If not twice as thick.
I've had my cube sleeved in black KMC hyper mattes w/ KMC perfect fits for probably the last 24-30 months or so, and I can't even remember the last time we split a sleeve. They've been fantastic.
But from what I understand, they've changed their process over the past year or so, and they suck now. I'll likely switch to perfect hards w/ Dragon Shields the next time I re-sleeve.
KMC Super Mattes (black, FWIW) have been fantastic for me. Cut evenly, they don't split, work perfectly for double-sleeving, and they don't attract dirt and scratches like a magnet (which Dragon Shields did for us).
What about going down to a local crafts shop and seeing about small leather cases? They may have ones intended to hold stuff that would be about the right size for a sleeved booster pack, and leather pouches would be cool as hell.
So long as the sleeves can't be seen through (so white and light pink are probably out) they're indistinguishable from other cards when double-sleeved. I've been cubing with CE since the beginning, and they've never once been observed as "marked" by any players.
I've never encountered that. Instead of pushing down on the top of the card when putting it back into the main sleeve, try sliding it into the sleeve by putting your finger on the back of the card. Might prevent it from coming out the bottom of the sleeve.
All I can say is not yet. It may prove itself to be an issue in the future because the perfect fit is barely under the top of the hyper sleeve, but it hasn't been a problem up to this point.
