Combo decks in their purest form 'can't' really exist in a cube. Their very nature requires cards which tend to be useless on their own and undraftable unless you have the other peice or are trying to obtain it. Then you also need tutor effects for any sort of reliability and you need lots of draw/manipulation to get it working before you lose to creatures attacking you. Not to mention that unless you draft with the whole cube every time, you won't necessarily see the combo pieces which could render your deck unplayable.
"engine" combos are great though. Groupings of cards which function really well with each other and create massive card advantage or systemically win the game are good because most of the cards are good on their own anyhow. (e.g. Crucible of Worlds and Strip Mine, or Bitterblossom and Skullclamp).
