I don't really want to kick up anymore dust on this thread but just wanted to give a small report. I was able to p1p1 this today during our cube draft and drafted a nice u/b control deck. Several games I had this in my opener and didn't lose a single one. In most games I was only able to get 2 maybe 3 activations but that was enough to push me over the top. Bottom line is that it's staying in my cube and I'm shopping for one now to get rid of the proxy. Thanks again for all the comments.
Look, I understand that on a basic level we shouldn't shoot [scd]s down, but this thread is the cube equivalent of posting a casual deck in a competitive forum. The conversation isn't particularly engaging and isn't what I come to this forum to discuss. Don't you want to hold yourselves to a little higher standard? I mean, shouldn't we have some criteria for posting these threads?
To me there's no difference between [scd]Black Lotus, [scd]Ancestral Recall, [scd]Goblin Piker, or [scd]Sorrow's Path.
I don't really understand all the hostility from you. I came to a forum dedicated to discussing magic cards for cube, to ask a question about a magic card for cube. I was looking for a few opinions about a card before I spend significant money to acquire one. I understand how the card works and that it is powerful but cube is a different animal than a constructed format and I don't have years of experience cubing. I have done exactly 5 cube drafts.
As someone who listens or perhaps now listened to both of your podcasts regularly it is even more aggravating because you seemed like someone who was interested in educating people, especially newer players about cubing. I apologize if my questions didn't meet your high standards.
Thanks for all the responses to this. I definitely feel like I need to continue running this card and will probably have to force it into several drafts and make sure it gets run so others can see how powerful it really is. I hate to dictate to anyone what cards they should run but I don't think it will happen otherwise.
What are people's opinions on this card? I know it is an inherently powerful card however my experience with it in my cube has been underwhelming. I have never had anyone in my group want to make this a high pick or even main deck it. Most of my playgroup prefer aggro centric decks and dump their hands as quickly as possible. There are very few control type players. Which decks want this card the most? I'm sure we're just not seeing the value and I want this to be good because I love the card. This is one of the last proxies I am running and am now very hesitant to drop $150.00+ on a card nobody wants to use.
