Taking 2 white cards and replacing them with multicolored cards is a pretty big thing - it wipes out two solid cards that are playable in 10 multicolored schemes and puts cards that are playable in only 4.
I've never put down a formal methodology for evaluating walkers for MP Cube, but this is really close to how I think about it as well (though I don't use criterion #3 since I don't run Doubling Season).
On that note, what do you guys think of Nahiri, the Harbinger? Boros is probably the weakest section in our Cubes, and she seems...okay? The + ability isn't great in WR, but the - ability seems solid and you can build loyalty without discarding if you really want to. I'm not sure if I'm evaluating her fairly due to the fact that I really want to jam in some decent MP Boros cards already.
Boros is awesome in mine. Gisela, Aurelia, Assemble the Legion, Boros Charm, and some other stuff... I could see her bumping something like Aurelia's Fury or Legion's Initiative based on power level, but 4 mana sorcery speed cards are not what I want to be adding in there.
Yeah. Memory Adept got removed because he was too good when we had 50 card decks and more board wipes. He might be okay now, but for 6 months or so he was a menace.
EDIT: Galspanic I'm realizing you have Gideon, Champion of Justice in your list. How has that performed? I have him sitting in a binder right now.
For the most part, he doesn't do much since we cut most of the land destruction. But you get someone once in a while who wants to run a planeswalker heavy Jokulhaups deck and he's fine in there.
Honestly, I couldn't have told you in he was in there or not though.
I'd say 55 Islands 50 others will cover 8 drafters.
Almost always. You get those weird drafts though where 5 people go Wxx and plains are maxed out. I just want to avoid that awkwardness if all it really costs me is a set of sleeves.
I had 45 and kept running out of one each time. 50 was better but we'd run short on Islands sometimes. 55 has worked well.
Adding Wastes warranted getting a separate box for the basics now.
Yah, my problem too. And to make it worse, I've been trying to foil out my basic land section. There's no way I'm even contemplating attempting foil full-art Wastes.
Pro Tip: The blue OGW intro pack apparently has 10 half-art Wastes onboard. I could think of worse ways of getting a hold of them.
At least with foils you know people want them and THAT's why they are hard to get ahold of. With half art, they are $.50-$.75 each because 5 people in the world want them and they aren't really on the market. They are in boxes in 14 year old kids' houses.
Honestly, there's a fair "F it" factor too. Like, these aren't huge things that will revolutionize the Cube and it might be kind of cool. Now, to go hunting for 20 half art Wastes.
You know, because I run so much artifact ramp I suppose Temple doesn't really pull as much weight as it once did so I can try that. I do have Loam and Crucible, but neither it really strong because there are only 10 fetches in the Cube, so I really think it would be more a "one and done" effect most of the time.

I can't really see any of these being less utile than the lands.
Displacer won't make the cut since I've gone out of my way to enable blink locks.
Is Kozilek really that good? I'm looking at the 2-3 slots for 10 cmc creatures and feel like he's a solid 4th place.
For now I have no interest in any of the <> cards so nothing yet. But when I get pressure to drop any of them in there I'll probably put 10 or so in the basics. The problem is that in 65 card decks the chances of seeing any of the <> cards is so low that it seems sort of pointless. The math just doesn't look good yet.
Mirrorpool looks like it might be fun, but I'm not sure if there's enough colorless (we push 3 color) to make it reliable. Although I think we'll all experience something similar to what R&D went through where we want to pack this mechanic in but run into all sorts of weird problems making it playable without feeling totally forced. Or not
My colorless spots are already pretty tight even with there being 70+ cards in there, so that probably won't help too much.
This time of year always creates a big lull in MTG and it seems like my mind starts drifting a little. So, today's thought (while looking at my super awesome 50 half art BFZ basics of each color) was that I might be interested in adding Wastes to the Cube because surely there must already be a reason to add a 6th kind of basic land to the Cube. And yes, I cannot think of a single card that would care about them.
Anybody else planning on messing around with these?
