FYI, I know many people in the boardgaming community that will happily proxy up a boardgame to try it out. If they like it, they buy it. There are of course games with so many strange pieces that it is basically impossible to do that but ya know how it goes. I dont know people that just use the proxy forever, unless the game is out of print. I "proxy" a several units, some terrain, and items in Heroscape since it is out of print and basically impossible to find. (Like Magic, my real collection is many hundreds of dollars too... I have a problem.)
Just out of curiosity Ant, do you only hate proxies of in-print sets? Since my buying a Tundra does not in anyway help WotC or any designers, as it is 100% secondary market.
Ignoring the issue of proxies (which I use for the ABU duals) and the difference between WotC and second market economies, and the health of the game at large, I think Voice is pretty awesome!
Frankly, we are just not used to playing with it yet. Thus there have been a few mistakes resulting in free tokens, and the largest we have seen the token was 13/13 (yay tokens)! Most of the time it is more like a 2/2 or a 3/3, but until everyone gets used to it the value is insane. When we do, it will still be insane.
I think enough will be opened for the value to drop in the short term. $40 for voice reminds me of $45 for JAoT at the start of RTR. Maybe it will not drop all the way to $10, who knows.
Wow. My trade is looking better everyday. Picked one up at the pre-release for a Master of Cruelty and a Savageborn Hydra. Thought it was about even at the time...
I run Militant in my white section at 360. Currently testing Voice at the request of my group but it has not hit the table yet. Currently playing it over Armada Wurm, though we are talking about going to 450, and then would just play both.
This seems like a lot of fun and I will certainly pick one up to test (depending on pricing), but it is too bad he has to die. No resto angel love or blink.bant. Just the tiniest bit sad.

Bonda is probably right long term.
No way it stays at $40.
