@ MeinKampfire but what to cut then? the two mana leaks? I have the same problem while playing 3 electrolyze 3 remand 2 spell snare and 1 mana leak.
I dont know if I should cut the snares and play 2 mana leaks and 3 commands or vice versa
I'm really happy with my list right now. It's just the 1 Electrolyze that I'm unsure about. 2 Mana Leak, 2 Remand, and 2 Spell Snare seemed to be more than enough.
Randy ranked UWR Control/Midrange at #2. That's pretty great!
Still not sure how I feel about Electrolyze and Spell Snare right now. They're both pretty poor against Zoo. I'm really strongly leaning towards running 2x Wall of Omens. A wall with 4 toughness that cantips is pretty amazing in this format right now.
The reason that I'm leaning so much on Wall of Omens is because there are rumors that Faeries barely showed up to the Pro Tour, while Zoo was (obviously) everywhere.
I'll test it this weekend. I have a pretty diverse meta.
I just don't like losing Electrolyze, but I might have to cut that cord and run more counter spells. -2 Electrolyze for +2 Mana Leak. Possibly -1 more Electrolyze for +1 Spell Snare/Remand as well. Not too sure because I have no idea if Electrolyze is good anymore.
Not exactly. Electrolyze could be dropped in favor of +1 Remand and +2 Mana Leak. My issue with Mana Leak is that I'd rather Remand early game for cantrip/tempo purposes, and late game it's near useless. Especially when I'm running 4x PtE mainboard. I'm relying on my removal suite to help me push through with my creatures instead of Mana Leaking it.
I'd also like to test out Wall of Omens in an UWr list. Not sure what I'd cut for it though. Maybe Thundermaw and Electrolyze for 2x Wall of Omens. Seems like a pocket meta choice though.
Our meta is very control and combo heavy. We have 2-3 Splinter twins, 2-3 American control, 1 U/R control, 2 Melira Pod (Which I lose to EVERY week), a weird U/W control deck with a ton of blink effects that was pretty good, Tron, 3 Affinity, Scapeshift... It's all over the place. Affinity isn't ever a problem as long as I have a few removal. Splinter Twin is always a scary match up but I usually win. I lose game 1 to Tron every week and then hit it with Sowing Salt. Scapeshift I feel like should be a good match up but I lost the one time we played. Anyway, I'm struggling with some card choices. I know most mid-range don't run Spinx's Rev but I've been a fan. I'm also running more Cryptics than most people do but with all the control/combo in our meta, having a hard counter is pretty nice.
My sideboard changes every week and is a mess. I'm currently running 2 Aven Mindcensor, 2 Counterflux, 2 Engineered Explosives, 1 Path to Exile, 2 Sowing Salt, 2 Supreme Verdict, 2 Spellskite, and 2 Thundermaw Hellkite. However, Pod destroys me. And I'm finding my control matchups to be harder and harder every week. For Pod I was thinking about Torpor Orb. I don't usually lose to them comboing, I generally get Finks and Red Cap hitting me over and over and gaining lots of life. Plus, the Orb hurts Twin, the one bloom titan deck we have, and the other control decks (If they run snapcaster and Clique). It however shuts down my Snapcaster and Clique as well. Not sure what to do about it. Another card I was thinking about is Luminarch Ascension. It seems really strong against control and Tron.
Anyway... any advice on my sideboard or deck list would be appreciated. And even general play style notes. I tend to play very conservatively against all the control decks but maybe I'd be better off trying to be aggressive with my Geists immediately.
You'd have a much better time by dropping the Sphinx's Revelations in favor of more removal. In fact, just do -2 for +2 Lightning Helix. This will help immensely.
Either -1 or -2 Cryptic Commands as well. I'd honestly go for -2. Fill those spots with +1 Remand (since you said your meta is control and combo heavy. (I'd recommend +1 PtE for anyone else)) and +1 Thundermaw Hellkite for the reach, or even +1 more counter spell.
Electrolyze is the card that I'm unsure of at this point. Still a great value card, but if Zoo becomes everywhere it's a pretty bad card. Could be Spell Snare instead.
Cryptic Command is just simply too good. I run Mystic Gate just to help me cast this card it's so good. I was once on the hate train for that card as well, but it's just too good.
Behind on board? Cryptic Command is helpful. Ahead on board? Cryptic Command is helpful. Bottom line, Cryptic Command is helpful. In one way or another, it has a use.
Now, the GP Prague winning list was running 3. That Modern meta was a tad bit slower than this one might end up being. So I think 3 is a bit greedy, and some could argue it's flat out wrong. However, not running at least 2 is just insane. Why would you do that?
That's the suite of spells that my deck currently runs. I'll probably end up with -1 Cryptic Command in favor of cards like +1 Mana Leak, +1 Flame Slash, or +1 Path to Exile.
Then if u have two slots on main deck, what u prefer to play in a unknow meta? Vendilion or Blade Splicer? I have a tournament in... 4 hours and idk what to do
Clique. Every. Single. Time.
Yup, its not even close. Clique, always. Its a toughseize with a body, it beats in the air, it has flash, i would play 4 if it wasnt a legend.
About colonnades, the pointof it its to be used when you are at 0 cards or with 1 or 2 useless ones in hand. At some point in the game bluffing becomes useless, so you would rather give the opp something to think about instead of just bluffing counters/removal that you really dont have.
And a 4/4 vigilance flying beater is definitly something i would be worried about if i dont have a path or a tectonic edge.
I use my Colonnades a whole lot less than you'd think I do, but the threat is always there. That 4/4 body that swings in the air and still taps for a PtE is always on the board, taunting your opponent. Even if I don't animate him, I'm sure he's done something in some way or another.
Also, UWR Control use Colonnades as a win-con. Why not have something that UWR Midrange can fall back on?

Leyline isnt bad, but it really isnt amazing either. Almost all the protections leyline can give you, you can get trough other more versatile cards, and you dont even need to run 4 of them and have them in your op 7 to be actually any use.
Scapeshift is a decent enough MU, burn shouldnt be that hard either with the correct SB, and ad nauseaum is non existent.
What im amazed at is how people can run this deck without counterflux on your sideboards. Really, i cant help but wonder what kind of metagame you guys play in.
I only run 1. My meta consistently has a Pyro Storm deck, and an UWR Control. One is more than enough. Against Storm it's GG, but really Mana Leak and Remand are enough. Against UWR Control it basically just removes Ajani from the game. I was running two and it was too many.
Although I also agree, how can you not have at least one in your SB lol

Although I might start siding them out against Pod, but I need more practice against that deck.

Path to Exile is just simply the most hilarious card against Affinity. Just remember that Modular doesn't work when Arcbound gets exiled.
